AI art is not a paid platform for creating jpgs, but a broad horizon of time and space. The origins of intelligent art go back centuries, with Ada Lovelace creating the first tabular programs in 1840. Art is not cocaine for the eyes, it is something more.
But what really is the AI art?
One possibility to find answers could be this year’s Ars Electronica. The Festival of Art, Technology, and Society is doing a thinking experiment in light of the crises and the pointless squabbling between governments, parties, and lobbyists. The question is, what if we were already successful. What if we could overcome the present difficulties and create an ecologically, economically, and socially sustainable society? If something were to happen, how could we ever survive? But, more importantly, what would our route to get there have looked like?

“Greetings from Planet B. It’s always possible to make a change and live a better life. The question “But how?” in the headline of Ars Electronica suggests that there is yet time to initiate a new future. Hundreds of creative endeavors illustrate what this potential future can look like and prove that differences don’t have to spell disaster; instead, they can serve as jumping-off points for developing consensus-based solutions. However, it also stresses the urgency of finding these answers.

The irony of history is that just as we were proclaiming the “Age of Man” and thinking we had reached the pinnacle of human achievement, we were suddenly thrust into a period of profound upheaval. AI artists viewpoints are represented in the show. It all begins with the particular trajectory of our cultural and technical history and the results that have (or have not) followed. Our acts and their dramatic consequences for ourselves, other organisms, and the natural world are what are brought to light, not our most significant accomplishments. Seeing as how no amount of cutting-edge technology can alter such facts, the onus is on each of us to effect personal transformation.

Evidence shows that choices influenced by AI system suggestions negatively affect marginalized groups. The data utilized to train these models may be to blame. The “Data Nutrition Project” seeks to highlight how biased data sets are like reflections of societal issues. A “Dataset Nutrition Label,” similar to the labels on food packages, provides information about a dataset and attempts to lessen the impact of incorrect data. Educational projects, such as a children’s book and podcast, are also in the works to help spread knowledge about the dangers of algorithmic decision-making.
