Join Us At Sharing Food — For All the Foodies Out There
A place for citizens around the world to share their experiences with food.

The other day I posted a one-picture article about the mountains of cheese and olives that are available in Istanbul.
I was surprised at the engagement that the article has gotten and I suddenly realized that people naturally gravitate to all things to do with food.
We do need it to survive, after all!
I then decided to expand on my food posts and wrote a story about the Turkish version of Pizza.
When I was finished writing about that, I got to thinking about so many other local dishes that I could be writing about that we have discovered in many other countries.
Then, I started to think about how many other dishes are out there!
Food is an intrinsic piece of each culture's vibrant tapestry which makes it unique. Each place has its own specialties, and the ways in which simple ingredients are entwined together are surprising and unending.

So then I started thinking that articles about the food that we encounter around the world, really should be featured in their own publication.
‘But wait a minute, there must be another publication doing something similar?’ I thought.
A quick search of Medium came up blank.
There are many food publications, and many share recipes and things like that, but there are none that focus directly on different cultural dishes from around the globe.
So, instead of waiting for someone else to jump on this, I am here to make it a reality! And I am so excited!
Learning about food in each place that we visit is one of our absolute favorite things about travel.
Whether it is a local fruit that grows that we have never seen before, or the way ingredients are combined, we never tire of the unending variety and possibilities of food that exist in each country.
Sharing Food will focus on highlighting different cultural dishes that are found in locations around the world! Of course, drinks can also be unique to a place, so I encourage articles about those as well.
If you drink it or eat it, let us know about it!
A few ground rules if you are thinking about submitting an article:
- Use at least one photo to highlight your food or drink. Photos must be your own and NOT from an online platform like Unsplash or others.
- If possible, explain what ingredients the item is made with.
- Please, no recipes! There are many publications available where you can post those.
- If there is a cultural significance to your food or drink item, please share it with us.
- Keep in mind that this is about highlighting food that others likely won’t know about. I’m not interested in hamburgers or other things that are common in many parts of the world. Unless the meat in the hamburger is unique and culturally significant, perhaps. We are looking for UNIQUE items, significant to the country that they are in.
- Medium rules rule.
- Please use tags appropriate to the item. ie. ingredients, country, food, etc.
- If you find a place that serves the specific dish you are referring to, I don’t mind if you mention it, but please no affiliate marketing for restaurants or chefs.
- Keep the focus of your story on the food or drink that you are sharing with us.
Okay, I think that is it! I’m so excited to learn about other foods in different parts of the world!
If you want to write for the publication, please comment with your Medium handle (ie. mine is @artisticvoyages) and I will add you as a writer!
Thanks so much for joining me in learning about food! This is very exciting!
Happy Eating!
