A 3-Minute Daily Observation On Linkedin Connections. Is More, Better?
A daily observation opinion piece on my thoughts.

I check my Linkedin account daily. I do a pulse check on my peers to check out the latest industry trends. Another part of me hopes that one of my contents went viral during my sleep.
And that is the funny thing. I do not understand why getting a truckload of likes makes me happy. Plus, there are from a bunch of people I never knew.
In this crazy world, the insane are sane.
And that begets the question of Linkedin connections. Is more necessarily better?
First, let me explain how I got to this question.
I remembered starting my Linkedin in 2014 with only ten connections. It did not bother me then. Set it and forget it.
I got more serious in 2019. I believed that the metric for a stellar account was to have a five-digit connection base. I did not know why.
I became obsessed with growing my connection base. If my memory does not fail me, I felt the heat on my cheeks when I saw I had hundred plus connections.
So, I went on to initiate connections with people in the industry. In the beginning, all I did was punching the Connect button thirty times a day.
Soon, I hit the daily connection limit and got banned. I got my account back in a couple of weeks.
Then, I started producing Linkedin posts so others can connect with me. It worked. I was getting twenty invitations to connect daily.
And, of course, my ego ballooned. I thought I was a superstar because my contents were getting hundreds of likes and tens of comments.
I was happily replying to comments and creating more content to get more likes, which invited even more responses I replied to within the same day.
Stupidity knows no boundaries.
It got me thinking. Do we network with the connections we made on Linkedin? Do we say hello? If we do, then what is next?
Do we sell something, buy something, or invite them to read our Medium stories attached?
I know that sounds mercenary. However, we do not count the number of neighbors we have around us, do we?
Do we keep networking with our neighbor’s neighbor?
Is there a purpose in knowing everyone in the neighborhood?
Is More Really Better?
