3 Ways To Identify A ChatBot On Linkedin.
Are you getting suspicious with the “person” conversing with you on Linkedin?

You are not alone. Chatbots have been around for a long while. This year, it feels as if I have been chatting with bots on Linkedin 80% of the time.
And we know this from our gut feelings. It is our intuition telling us that something is amiss. We start wondering if there is a real conversation going on?
In this story, I will share three common ways where we can spot a bot immediately.
Chatbots Respond At The Speed Of Light.
Humans hesitate, and chatbots do not. Let me explain what I mean.
Linkedin is the outlier social media platform that we endeavor to connect with people we do not know. We do that to network with our peers, to learn from the contents that our peers publish.
Before all of that, we need to search and make a connection. We routinely receive invitations from people we never knew.
If we accept the invitation from a Chatbot- Watch out for the Direct Message tab.
If you have just accepted an invitation from someone, and a 3-scroll long message appears on your Direct Message tab within a fraction of a second — Congratulations.
You got a bot in the house.
Chatbots Mentions Product Or Services That Are Not Part Of The Conversation.
Awkward conversations occur in the digital world as well.
In the human world, awkward conversations involve emotional responses such as embarrassment or discussion of social taboos.
When it comes to chatbots, awkward conversations includes disparate mention of products and services out of context. Let me show you a conversation I had this morning.
Me: Thanks for the connection, Jeremy. What can I do for you?
Jeremy: Are you interested in our Spring Collection? The Product Catalogue is on our website, abc.com.
Me: I did not connect for this purpose, so please do not hard-sell any products or services before I complain to your company.
Badly-Programmed Chatbot Jeremy: Please allow us to serve you better by attending to your concerns about our products and services. Please reach out to our customer service center at this number.
Playing a ping-pong conversation with a chatbot can be annoying. There are multiple exchanges without a genuine conversation going on.
When you encounter this, I assure you.
You got a bot.
Chatbots Are Fast To Take You Out Of Linkedin.
Linkedin is a platform for them to fish for connections and profiles.
Once they have achieved their connection goals, they work fast to reel in the fish who bite the bait.

Sales professionals understand the need to build relationships before asking for a sale. They know they will lose the lead if they become impatient with a prospect.
The chatbot does the exact opposite.
Watch out if your connection wants you to visit their website, schedule an appointment on Calendly, grab your mode of communication by the 2nd or the 3rd response.
They move fast to reel you in.
Let us think about it this way. We would feel repelled if a guy advances too quickly on the first date, am I right?
If we spot that behavior on Linkedin, you got an anxious chatbot on the other end desperate to close a sale.
My Take On Linkedin Chatbots.
I understand the business case for digital assistant automation. If we are trying to get business from Linkedin, we want to close the deal and not spending time on the prospecting process.
However, as humans, we do not feel good speaking to a chatbot. We derive a higher level of satisfaction on the exact conversation with a human vis-à-vis a chatbot.
We yearn to connect. We want to connect with fellow humans.
And as the chatbot population explodes within Linkedin, genuine connections are tough to come by.
My response to these chatbots is simple. When I suspect that the opposite party is a chatbot, I disconnect immediately.
There is no point keeping them in my connection list.
That is not the reason I want to be on Linkedin.
