7 Thought-Provoking Conspiracy Theories About Adolf Hitler’s death
‘Hitler lived’ — the conspiracies that just won’t die.

What really happened to Hitler towards the end of World War II? Did he actually shoot himself?
Lack of evidence like the absence of his body for the public eye gave birth to numerous conspiracy theories, forcing the Soviet Union to believe he was still alive — at least till the 1980s. People did believe he lived a decent old age with his wife, Evan.
Now, what led people to develop conspiracy theories? The nature of Adolf Hitler testified that he was not someone who would surrender or choose death for himself.
On several occasions, the man had escaped his death, thus digesting the fact of his tragic fate is quite hard. A decent fraction of people thought that World War II’s “Public EnemyNumber One” could not die so quickly.
Anyhow the long shared narrative, which is believed by the majority, goes like this: Once he shot himself, his body was carried out, burnt, and then buried by his man.
The truth is uncertain, but what certainly bizarre are the conspiracy theories which surfaced gradually across different parts of the globe. Let’s dive into some all-time favorite conspiracy theories, aligning with what resonates the most.
1. Hitler escaped to Antarctica or San Diego
Conspiracies were surrounding Hitler escaping to Antarctica, to the secret nazi base constructed in the 1930s. The German submarine had proudly announced an impregnable fortress in the south pole.
Interestingly enough, if this conspiracy was correct, then Hitler anyway died in 1950 as ultimately Britain destroyed the fort in the same decade.
Additionally, hiding in the base situated in San Diego, California in the US was another popular notion spread by the theorists who claimed Hitler hid inside several interconnected buildings, which in shape forms a Nazi Swastika.
2. Hitler escaped to Spain or Argentina
Have you read the book ‘Hitler’s Escape’ by Ron T Hansig? If yes, then you might know how he explains Hiter’s escape to Spain in 1945.
The book links several logical pieces together. For instance, the corpse being found in the bunker to be of his body double and similarly Eva Braun’s one was untraceable.
Another conspiracy related to his escape was to Argentina: Departing from Norway on U-boat U977 to Southern Argentina along with U-boat U-530, Hitler escaped with his wife, Eva Braun. The theory says it took two a half months to reach a village in Argentina, where he and his wife lived happily ever after.
3. Hitler took the underground route
Everyone knew Hitler hid in the Berlin bunker during the last Allied bombing. Thus people expanded on his underground plan and thought he did something similar to escape the route of surrendering or committing suicide.
Theorists who aligned with his secretive plan explained how he could have gone to an airstrip through the underground tunnel from where he flew to the South Pole. Hitler didn’t only end there but reached to hollow earth as he believed that Earth was in essence, hollow.
4. Hitler cloned himself
History testifies how Hitler loved sciences; thus, based on his attachment with technology, theorists coined another weird hypothesis of Hitler cloning himself.
His heavy interest in biotechnology and thirst for medical experiments supported such a bizarre hypothesis. With the aid of infamous war criminal Dr. Joseph Mengele, his close scientist friend Hitler was able to perform such action. Note there is no evidence Mengle knew Hitler.
Note: this is the plot of The Boys from Brazil, a 1978 film in which Hollywood legend Gregory Peck plays Mengle. A similar plot appears in various Marvel Comics where Nazi mad-scientist Arnim Zola places Hitler’s mind in various cloned bodies to create a super villain called the Hatemonger.
5. Parkinson’s disease caused Hitler’s death
Many reports confirm that Hitler was inflicted with Parkinson’s disease, but none of them labels the condition to be strong enough to cause his death.
Despite the unlikeness of such a disease killing anybody, some believed Hitler died from it. How can people believe something that only affects motor skills and speech to cause anyone’s death? Weird. Strange. Senseless.
6. Hitler and his escape to the Moon
Some theorists overestimate Hitler a great deal, deeming he was ahead of time and NASA.
They say he had built a secret bunker on the moon where he went, escaping the Earth. This theory explains why NASA abandoned manned Moon missions in the 1970s, the astronauts were actually searching for Hitler and never found him so U.S. President Richard M. Nixon (R-California) ended the missions.
When things began to go wrong for Hitler, he already planned his escape to another planet. These types of theories are famous for Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley as well, who knows, they might have been neighbors.
7. Hitler and his plan with aliens
There is another hypothesis that sounds plausible to many ears: Hitler and his friendship with aliens.
People believed that aliens once met with the genius of the world, Hitler, and devised a plan. They wanted him to join their mission of controlling the world in exchange for which he would be offered advanced technology.
Once defeated by the Allied, Hitler’s plan of ruling the world went down in dumps. Thus he had no option but to reside with aliens, vanishing to the other side of the world.
Did Hitler actually bite a cyanide capsule before shooting himself on the head? This is the larger narrative that we follow until today because history cannot present us with direct evidence that could surface what exactly happened that day. Isn’t it interesting that it has been several years, but we are still clueless.
Maybe one day, the truth will resurface — a day when we might not be present on earth to give our reaction.
