7 Bad Habits That Are Killing Your Energy

Habits are powerful.

They are the small decisions we make and the actions we take on a daily basis. Studies show that about 40% of our behaviors are a result of our habits.

Good habits make time our ally. Bad habits make time our enemy.

Beware of these 7 common bad habits that might work against you by killing your energy on a daily basis.

1. Overthinking

Most problems can only be solved by taking action.

And no amount of thinking solves a problem that can only be solved by doing.

Stop overthinking it and start working on a solution. Otherwise, you are wasting your energy.

2. Mindlessly Scrolling Through Social Media

Chasing cheap dopamine and comparing yourself to edited pictures of supermodels messes up your mental health.

Especially after getting up in the morning, you should avoid this mistake, because the wasted time and the cheap dopamine will decrease your momentum as well as your motivation for the whole day.

3. Inactivity.

Get moving.

Insufficient exercise makes you feel tired and sluggish. Any form of exercise gets your heart pumping, your blood flowing and your brain working. If you don’t overtrain, you’ll feel more energized afterward.

Even a 20- minute walk can do the trick.

4. Not Taking Responsibility.

Don’t confuse fault with responsibility.

If you’re in a shitty situation, it might not be your fault. But it is your damn responsibility to get your life together. By not taking responsibility you are giving away your power to change the situation.

Take responsibility and you’ll feel empowered.

5. Lack of sleep

Sleep deprivation causes a variety of health problems.

Prioritize sleep to get your 8 hours a day in.

Don’t let anyone tell you that you have to sacrifice sleep to achieve your goals. You will only destroy your energy levels and over time even your health.

6. Hanging out with negative people.

Spending time with the wrong people will drain your energy.

Negativity is contagious.

Be smart and practice social distancing to not catch the negativity- virus.

7. Mental Masturbation

Here’s a definition of what that means by one of my favorite people on Twitter:

“The process of raising dopamine in your brain by telling people your goals, plans, and how you want to change but never actually doing anything about it”

Stop talking about it. Just do it.
