60,000 Ebooks Are Ready To Download On This Site For Free!
Tips to get free motivational books, too!
It’s Springtime and time to catch up on reading. If you are planning a vacation and don’t know what to read at the cabin or resort, don’t worry about buying a book or magazine.
You can have access to thousands of free or discounted books on your cellphone, tablet, or computer.
I personally tried to buy a book for my online class but discovered the price on Amazon was outrageous for an out of the print book. Some seller was hoping to make a tidy profit on a dog-eared school book that some people need for class. Luckily, the textbook was not required and it was optional to read. Still, I believe that knowledge is power and wanted to read it. After some online sleuthing, I managed to snag it for free for 30 days.
The site is called SCRIBD and readers can have access to millions of ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, and more. You can read for free for 30 days after that, you pay $12.99 a month.
If your textbook is almost $100 or more, it may be cheaper for you to subscribe to this site for a few months and cancel when the course is over.
I spent some time doing some more research and found another site called readanybook.com and I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of the free books offered. You can also find top-notch motivational books by the likes of Tony Robbins, who wrote, “Money Master The Game: 7 Simple Secrets to Financial Freedom.”
You can also find classics like “Death Of A Salesman by Arthur Miller. If you are looking for proof about heaven, you can find “Heaven is for Real” by Todd Burpo on this site.
Keep in mind that this site may contain “fragments” of the book uploaded by the user and the entire book may or may not be there, depending upon the author’s permission.
The best and my favorite site I was able to find that has absolutely free books, and not just “fragments” is the Project Gutenberg site. You don’t need to register and there is absolutely no fee.
Some highlights include:
- 50 years of ebooks, starting from 1971to 2021. The total amount is 60,000 ebooks!
- Search and browse option
- Top 100 downloaded ebooks option. If you are stumped on what book to download, explore some greats like, “The Great Gatsby,” by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and “The Picture of Dorian Gray” by Oscar Wilde.
If you are bored, you can explore old books by Edison here or even Charles Dickens. If you need to buy a classic novel like, “Heart Of Darkness” by Joseph Conrad for a mandatory university course, you can use the search button to locate the book and download it for free.
I like the idea of reading books online. There is no waste and absolutely no need to cut down more trees for making books.
Another Strategy
I found a neat way to find hard-to-print favorites. One of my go-to books, when I need motivation is called “Psycho-Cybernetics: A New Way To Get More Living Out Of Life,” by Maxwell Maltz.
The famous artist Salvador Dali has said of the book, first published in 1960, “Dr. Maltz’s ….is one of the most remarkable and crucial achievements of modern medical and psychological science.” Maltz points out that a person’s positive self-image of himself is a key to his success.
Step 1: Head to Google
Step 2: Type in the title of the book and add a free pdf download.
After doing this, I found a few sites that gave me a link to download the book for free.
These steps are for hard-to-print books in which the copyright has expired. With newer books, you will have to buy the book on a site like Amazon.com or choose an option where you can have a trial offer of 30 days before you have the chance to cancel or pay a monthly fee.
Still Another Way
Another way to read without paying is to go to your local library and get a library card to access library books online. My local library gave me all the information to digitally take out a library book if I wanted to.
One More Option
Did you know the Internet has a library?
This is a comprehensive site and it offers books through “controlled digital lending.” There are all kinds of genres and you can find Harry Potter books available, as well as comic and romance novels.
You can also borrow textbooks too and digitally return them. It’s a fantastic way to explore different authors without paying a cent. I would love to do the same thing and digitally borrow the Mona Lisa painting from the Louvre Museum. (That’s another topic to explore, ha! ha!)
That’s all today.
