My favorite places to book freelancing writing work
My plate is pretty full now with freelance clients and my other projects. I don’t tend to seek out freelance work much these days but, whenever I am looking for more work, I tend to hit up these 2 websites.
I remember the days when I first started freelance writing. It felt like so much opportunity was in the air.
If I could book (optimistically) 10 clients in a month at $1,000 each, that’s $10K per month!
That’s how I was thinking yet, it was so freaking difficult to land just one client!
I was scouring places like Facebook, LinkedIn, writing websites, and forums, just to find one client. It felt aimless and I had little success until I stumbled upon these gems.
Here are my favorite places to book freelance writing work…
Favorites for Booking Freelance Writing Clients Over and Over Again
Here they are…
1. ProBlogger Job Board

I am a big fan of the site’s creator Darren Rowse. He has a very successful job board on his site, ProBlogger.
When you visit the job board, it’s super easy to navigate. Just scroll through the writing jobs and apply to the opportunities that appeal to you.

Here’s one of the job listings I found in the past…
When you click into a job listing, there are usually instructions for applying for the gig. You either fill out a form or send an email. Easy.
2. Starter Story

I’ve only applied to a handful of jobs from Starter Story and landed one paid writing gig. The gig I landed has earned me around $1,600 to $3,000 per month that I work and I’ve made around $10K so far.
This is a paid site.
Starter Story interviews entrepreneurs and shares the interviews on the site. You will learn info about the business like:
- How they started?
- How they raised money to kick off their project?
- Did they hire employees?
- How much money they make and plans for future sales?
- Current staffing needs?
Many of the business owners are asked about hiring opportunities. This is where they share if they are hiring and if so, what positions they need.
If you stumble upon a freelance writing opportunity, you can apply.
Onto You!
These are my two favorite places to find freelance writing work. I have used many more sites but honestly, my best results are from these places.
