4 Subtle Mindset Shifts to Fuel Your Side Hustle and Build an Empire
Reframe your perspective to embrace the success

With many tools and knowledge available to us in today’s time, it’s not difficult to start your side hustle or a passion project.
But you know only a few make it big and continue to work despite failures and rejections.
Beginners are many but finishers are few.
I started writing online in 2020 but was not sure how long I am going to continue until 2022, I started learning the nuances and the writing craft. And honestly, I fell in love with the process.
In the last 6 months, I have done many experiments and one of the most important changes was to shift my mindset.
And it helped me to look at things in a certain way to observe and write about them.
In this post, I’ve listed three subtle mindset shifts that helped me reach levels of success that I never thought was possible before.
If you’re starting to write online or have been in the game for a few years, read on.
I’m sure these tips will be of immense value to your life and career.
#1 Think big but create smaller steps
I am not saying that you should stop thinking big and setting audacious goals.
Go and certainly do that. But taking a big leap is difficult if you know where it’s going to lead you.
So break your big dreams into tiny smaller milestones and create a path forward on what you can do today to take you closer to your dream destination.
For example, so far I have published 195 articles, it would not have been possible if I had planned out all of my articles in one day.
I focused on one article at a time and what value I can bring.
I am not super successful yet in terms of monetizing it, but I know I’m on the right track and will surely scale it to great heights.
So what changed?
I stopped thinking big and started thinking small, and emphasis on what can I do today.
You see, every time you think big, your subconscious understands that you’re not in control of the situation.
When we let fear take control, we get lost in our own thoughts, assumptions.
Instead of worrying about what might happen one moth from now or 6 months later, plan what you can do today that will take you one step closer to your 1 month or 6 month plan.
Embrace the uncertainty with curiosity, not fear.
So now onwards, don’t think of big leaps you’ll take, but plan the next small steps you can take.
#2 Follow your energy to produce your results
You are as good as your energy.
For the last two months, my days have been hectic, working for almost 12–14 hours every day, and I barely had time to rest.
And every morning, I think, I should protect my mental health but it’s not happening.
And one day it snapped. I felt extremely irritated, low on energy, and didn’t feel like doing any work.
I decided to take it slow. Took a day off from work, and just spend my day in pajamas reading my book.
In a few hours, I felt good about myself and didn’t feel guilty about taking a day off because, I know I am coming back with great energy and lots of positivity.
If you’re looking for a takeaway, here’s one.
It’s okay to take breaks and you don’t need to justify them to anyone.
Your brain might trick you into believing you’re not doing enough. But breaks help you refresh and come back with renewed energy.
They are just as important as ticking tasks off your to-do list.
Don’t ignore the transformative power of taking a day or a week off. You certainly deserve it.
Follow your energy, and do what your body and mind allows you to do.
Don’t let the hustle culture fool you into thinking that you’re a failure .
#3 Plan your work so that you stop feeling the pressure at the end
I am writing this point because first, I like planning, and second, I like to stay with the plan. Maybe I am not spontaneous enough.
Anyway- I like to plan my week and day so that I know exactly what I am going to do and when, and what critical important things I have to check off.
I am maintaining my extremely demanding job and writing online part-time, so you can understand why planning is important to me.
Online presence is important, but it shouldn't affect your mental health. If it’s affecting your mental and emotional well being, it’s not worth it.
Take care of yourself.
After all, there’s only one of you.
#4 Time is your actual wealth. Don’t spend casually
As I am getting older, I am learning that time is important and what is most important is how I choose to spend it. I never thought of this way before.
I spent endless hours binge-watching stupid movies, and TV shows, and watch re-runs of my favorite shows many times.
But at this point, I am thinking about how I am investing my time instead of spending it.
Even if you have time if you don’t get good at saying no it will get wasted.
Rethink how you say no and to what.
If you knew tomorrow, you’d die, you’d say no today. That’s the mindset that leads you to own your time.
True wealth is owning your time because it’s yours to live.
