30 More Things Tik Tok Taught Me

I had a lot of fun sharing 36 things Tik Tok taught me.
From crazy simple and delicious recipes to how to trade cryptocurrency, movie recommendations, health hacks, and more, you can really find almost anything you’re looking for on the short-form video platform.
Here’s that article if you want to read it…
In this article, I’m excited to share 30 more cool and interesting things Tik Tok has taught me.
Let’s go!
30 Things I’ve Learned from Tik Tok
As always, just because it’s on the internet doesn’t make it true, even if it’s coming from an expert.
Make sure to vet out these ideas and do your due diligence.
I just saw a video from a girl who ended up admitted in the hospital for 3 days because she was trying the Tik Tok papaya seed detox where you eat the seeds to clean out your digestive track of worms.
It worked but, she also had blood in her stool, awful stomach pains, dizziness, and loss of appetite.
And again, she’s been in the hospital 3 days while doctors try to diagnose her.
Be careful out there.
Let’s go!
1. You can bake an entire meal in your air fryer
This might not be news to you. From salmon with broccoli and potatoes to chocolate chip cookies, a cake, whatever, it can be done in an air fryer.
2. Gua sha chisels your face
I’ve been seeing these videos circling around Tik Tok for a while.
There’s a technique.
Watch a video and follow along.
I bought the gua sha tool on Amazon. I use olive oil. It feels great. I have TMJ so it’s especially helpful for me.

I’m not consistent with it so I can’t say I see results yet but, it’s something I want to make into part of my evening beauty routine.
3. Pinterest is paying creators thousands
I have experienced this firsthand.
My current balance on my Pinterest creator hub dashboard is $900 with $800 expected for March.
My hope was to make at least $10K this month but, if you go from pinning once a day to dozens of times a day, it can send a red flag and get your account suspended so, you’ve got to gradually up your activity.
I found a lady on Tik Tok who made $79K last month as a Pinterest creator!
4. There’s a niche for everything
People are addicted to those pimple popping videos. Also, the ear cleaning ones and picking dandruff out of your hair.
There’s really an audience for almost anything.
5. Erewhon is my dream grocery store
It’s in California and stupidly expensive but, I still want to try it one day. It reminds me of a super organic, hyped up form of Whole Foods Market.
Search it in Tik Tok to see what I mean.
6. If you’re in the service industry, it’s easier than you think to work with celebrities
This video shows you how to work with record labels as a third party vendor.
If you’re a stylist, makeup artist, graphic designer, nail tech, PR person, video editor, etc. and you want to work with celebs and famous people, this is a way to do that.
7. If you want to be on a Netflix reality show, you can
There are casting directors on Tik Tok. Follow them and sign up for their notifications when they announce castings for upcoming shows.
8. You can make homemade potpourri on your kitchen stove
Oranges, lemons, cranberries, cinnamon stick, cloves, throw whatever you want in there with some water and simmer all day long to make your house smell amazing.
It’s a natural air freshener without the chemicals of commercial plug-in air freshener or candles.
9. Vodka-infused whip cream exists
And, it was created by Cardi B. The brand is called Whip Shots.
10. There are thousands of ways to customize your Starbucks drink
When the pandemic first hit, Starbucks was my savior. I spent hundreds of dollars per month there. It was awful.
If you’re feeling bored by their menu, just know that there are literally thousands of ways to customize your drink, whether you want to top it with cookie crumbles, add hazelnut and vanilla syrup to your morning brew, get strawberry cold foam on your iced latte, mix a chai tea latte with espresso, or anything you want.
Some locations even blend cookies and wafers into the drink from their food line, for customers that ask.
One of my favorite Starbucks creators is eggbaloni.
12. If you want a cheap, delicious meal to make at home for $5, go to Dollar Tree
There’s a creator that makes these $5 meals from Dollar Tree.
They have meat, veggies, carbs and they look so good. Each meal serves 2 people (maybe more) and he gets the ingredients from Dollar Tree!

For struggling college students or frugal-minded people, this might be an option to slim down your grocery budget.
13. Hidden gems are in every city
This is what I want to believe, anyway. From underground food places to cool lounges, places for shopping, etc.
I’m sure there are some awesome undiscovered places in your city. If you want to find them, hit up Tik Tok, especially if you’re in a big city.
I’ve found…
- A vegetarian/vegan Chinese food spot that has the best dumplings I’ve ever had
- An all-you-can eat sushi spot down the street from where I live
- A speakeasy downtown (bakery in the front, lounge/bar in the back)
14. Eucalyptus in your shower is the ultimate self-care
This is something I have always wanted to try.
I commonly drop eucalyptus essential oil in my shower. The actual plant would be amazing in there, I think.
Still haven’t done this yet. It lives rent free in the back of my head.
15. If you’re trying to get comfortable sleeping on your back, there’s a hack for that

This is the video for it. He also shows you how to sleep if you have GERD, what to look for in pillows, and more.
16. For panic attacks, try this
I am not a doctor. This is not medical advice.
I have tried this and it helps.
It’s really super sour candy. So sour your brain is supposed to not be able to focus on anything else but the sour taste in your mouth. It’s really sour for a while and then at the very end, it sweetens up.
I have a whole bag at home and I keep a few candies in my purse when I go out in case I get overwhelmed or fall into a panic attack.
It’s called Toxic Waste.
17. There are cheap ways to make your home look expensive
- Peel and stick backsplash
- Peel and stick wall sconces
- Update old light fixtures
- Peel and stick wallpaper
So many ideas on Tik Tok. Go and search.
18. You can change your car air filter at home
It looks really easy.
My sister actually does this herself.
Buy the air filter from Amazon and you can find a video online (Tik Tok or YouTube) for how to install it through your glove compartment.
19. You can get paid to travel
I post about this often.
It’s interesting to see the travel incentives out there, along with incentives that pay you to move to a new state or new country.
20. Cutting an 8-inch round cake into 25 slices is possible
This is for when you have to feed a dozen or more people and you don’t want to invest in a huge cake. An 8-inch round is all you need apparently.

21. The One Chip Challenge is entertaining to watch but, don’t you dare do it
This is the black tortilla chip that’s extremely spicy.
Most of the videos I’ve seen of people doing this have the taste tester turn to the camera and tell the audience not to do it as they agonize over the heat in their mouth and throat.
Believe me I won’t.
But, it’s entertaining to watch.
It’s by the company Pacqui. This is it on Amazon.
22. Gardening in your kitchen is possible
They’re called tower gardens and you can grow lettuce, cabbage, and other produce from them.
Put them in your kitchen or backyard, care for them and watch them grow.

This creator talks a lot about them.
23. Magesium can help you sleep
Or, can it?
I tried this and it seems to work for the first few weeks then, it just stopped. I tried taking it during the day once too and I took a nap shortly after.
Not sure if I experienced a placebo effect or not.
My sister did it with me and had the same experience. There are different kinds of magnesium too so, we might have been taking the wrong kind, who knows?
24. Facebook reels — their $35,000 bonus
I have mentioned this in a few stories here on Medium but haven’t written a full story dedicated to the topic.
Facebook, like Instagram and other networks are trying to be like Tik Tok.
Short form videos.
Reels bonuses of up to $35,000/month are being given away on Facebook. I’ve seen screenshots from two different creators who got the full bonus. One is lorrainekamesha on Tik Tok.
If you have access to make Facebook reels, feel free to give it a try to make some money.
25. It makes you feel warm and fuzzy to see kindness happen in front of you
The videos where someone is doing a kind act for someone else…
- Shaq bought a child a bike in Walmart
- When a gentleman walks an elderly lady across the street
- That homeless artist that sold paintings to Steve Harvey and Oprah thanks to a Tik Toker’s help
It makes you feel good. It doesn’t get old.
26. Golden Steer in Las Vegas
It’s a classic steakhouse. I’ve never eaten here but the next time I’m in Vegas, I will.
This is the video that changed it all for me.
27. How to make Spanish rice
I’ve always made Zatarains Spanish rice.
But, Tik Tok taught me another way to make it and it came out super flavorful and delicious. This is the video.
28. Google will give you money to learn Google Ads
The program is called Nonprofit Marketing Immersion.
- Work with nonprofits, helping them run Google ads to their organization
- Google pays you $329/day in ad spend to run ads for the nonprofit
- You’ll gain valuable experience, learning Google ads, consulting skills, and other important skills during the process
29. Coffee bar dispensaries are a thing
And, they have them in my city (Houston)!
30. There is a real job that pays you to transport animals
This creator has over 2 million followers on Tik Tok.
Her job is to transport animals to their destination (and new owner).
These are rare, exotic, or super expensive animals that are usually babies (from her videos), like an F2 cinnamon savannah, a mini cow, miniature pony, a fennec fox, etc.
Final Word
This was fun to write.
