3 Reasons Why You Should Continue To Publish Articles On Linkedin.
On top of writing in Medium.

I defected from Linkedin to write on Medium. That said, I am not abandoning it altogether. It just means I have to prioritize my time and effort.
There is a reason for this. It is monetary in nature. I can punch out a 1,000 words article on Linkedin and get nothing in return. No, actually, I get likes and comments.
Maybe I will get some hate comments and thumbs down if the platform allows for that. Fortunately, it is not YouTube.
And it begets the question. Should we stop writing on Linkedin and focus our efforts on Medium?
My answer is no, and I will share why this is so.
For one, the purpose is different. Linkedin is oriented as a professional networking social media platform. This is where virtual business people meet to shake hands.
What do they do in an actual business setting? They exchange name-cards, and they listen to the products and services that the counter-party is offering.
More often than not, we attend networking events hosted by different companies to get insights into the industry. Linkedin articles do just that.
Next, Linkedin is a place to build Thought Leadership because of the audience. Such genres do not do very well on Medium as compared to Linkedin. The audience there wants to consume information that would propel them ahead in their careers.
The Thought Leaders that they follow provide them with those pieces of information. If you happen to an industry leader, I think the best bet is to continue to write on Linkedin to build a strong professional following while building a side income on Medium.
We do not need to sacrifice one for the other.
Lastly, the opportunities that are present on Linkedin are vastly different from Medium. I managed to get opportunities as a C-Suite leader through articles published on Linkedin. I have not been presented with such opportunities on Medium.
Medium presents me with writing gigs. We can use different platforms to get different opportunities.
In summary, we should rethink the way we invest our time on Linkedin and Medium. Publishing on Linkedin may not pay us immediately, based on readership. However, there is a potential upside when it comes.
We do not need to be binary in our thinking. Both platforms can benefit us when we invest our time accordingly.
Use Both Linkedin and Medium!
