3 Invaluable Life Lessons That Travel Taught Me
One of the best ways to keep our hearts full and our minds busy is to travel.
1. Travel taught me to take breaks.
I listen to my body and give it the rest it needs when it needs it. Giving ourselves the opportunity to relax, recharge and return to work brings new energy and focus. Our bodies crave rest, we need rest to get creative and feel productive again. We can’t run on full energy 24/7 and we should not feel guilty for taking a break — don’t underestimate the power of taking a break.
2. Travel taught me to live in the now.
Life passes us by fast, and the older we get, the more we realise this. I make a conscious effort to live in the present, focus on every moment and make new memories. Savour all the small moments, appreciate my surroundings, and be more mindful… every day!
3. Travel taught me to travel slow.
Slow Travel is a way of life that gets you thinking of travel differently. When travelling slow, we take the time to get to know local villages and cities that we miss out on when travelling to somewhere new for a week(end). I‘m able to switch up the jam-packed busy trips to a more relaxed way of travelling. Immersing myself with new cultures, learn from locals rather than ticking off 30+ must-sees from your to-do list. I now prioritise experiences over tourist attractions.
Travelling makes my heart full & my mind busy.
Living by these lessons when travelling allows you to understand the local culture, have richer experiences and appreciate the small things. You will also learn more about yourself and what you love — if you ever feel overwhelmed by the power of travel, remember to just stop, pause and be.
