“We should daily affirm that new ideas are coming to us, new ways of doing things; that we are meeting new and wonderful friends, new situations, that joyous things are going to happen to us. Ernest Holmes

I spent the first couple of decades of my life just floating by. No real dreams or desires, no goals or plans. Because of that, I allowed life to happen to me and unsurprisingly I was sad and unfulfilled.

I have only recently, in my early 30s, been able to figure out who I am and what I believe. Once I did, everything around me changed.

Money and beautiful women didn’t start falling from the sky, but hope and happiness have entered my life for the first time.

We get so caught up in doing life, we forget to live. Go to school, get a job, buy expensive things to show everyone how successful you are.

Is that what you really want in life?

If so, more power to you, do what makes you happy.

For those who are lost and confused, you have the answers, they’re inside you waiting to come out.

We don’t have to fight against life.

When I was lost and depressed and working a job I hated I viewed everything as a struggle. Nothing came easy, not for me, I wasn’t lucky like other people. I now see that wasn’t true, I made it up in my mind.

When we stop worrying about the future, or what others will think or say, we can live our lives on our terms. It might be hard, it might be scary, but it’s defiantly more rewarding.

We put too much value on other people’s ideas and expectations. We allow their rules to rule our lives. When we are honest with ourselves and let ourselves live, we open a whole new world of possibilities and unimaginable happiness.

We can keep living our lives to make others happy or we can make ourselves happy.

Doing things for ourselves isn’t selfish, because the more we have, the more we have to give.

Finding time for ourselves can be hard, especially if we have a family to support. But when we take some time, even a few minutes, to get quiet and block out the noise we allow life in.

Sitting with ourselves in the present moment brings us peace and joy. It won’t solve all of our problems overnight, but it makes life more bearable, and maybe even enjoyable.

Take some time for yourself, whenever you can, you’ll be surprised at what you find.

“Our appointment with life is in the present moment. If we do not have peace and joy right now, when will we have peace and joy- tomorrow or after tomorrow? What is preventing us from being happy right now?” Thich Nhat Hanh
