2 Questions To Guide Your Humanly Path
You are here for a reason. It’s time to remember.
The nature of existence is not complicated. However, if you can reduce something down to a concept, then it’s not reality. Therein lies the paradox of trying to understand reality:
- No matter how detailed of a map you have of reality, it will never replace your direct experience journeying through reality.
- No matter how much your left brain will try to reduce your experience to how things are supposed to be, reality is always beyond that.
We think we know what we are talking about, the meaning of things, the basic rules of existence, until the truth of reality hits us, forcing us to reassess everything and begin again.
And we do this through self-inquiry.
Below are two fundamental questions to ask yourself regarding the nature of reality. See them as a way to guide you back to grace and uncloud your perceptions about life and who you really are when you find yourself lost in the chaos of modern life.
1. Who Am I?
We spend the majority of our lives confused about who we really are — believing we are this mind, body, and intellect phenomena.
`However, in the words of spiritual teacher Michael Beckwith:
“We are not phenomena but noumena; infinite eternal beings that never was born and never will die. “
When we die, our physical body dissolves, but our spirit lives on forever. Here are three points about who you really are:
- You are more than your physical body and belong to something greater beyond concepts and ideas.
- Instead, you are a soul with a body: a spiritual being having a physical experience.
- And you are here because your soul wants to have this experience.
This leads to the second question.
2. Why Was I Created?
Are we here to go to school, get a degree, get a job, get married, make some money, have kids, wait for retirement, and then die?
Are we trying to just get by?
Are we seeking to go from birth to death with minimal damage or difficulty? Without stumbling too many times along the way?
Why are we having this human experience as spiritual beings?
- We are here to experience the nature of life: the 3D experience of emotions, touching things, relationships, love, heartbreak, pain, suffering, sex, loss, growing old, etc.
- We are here to learn about duality: light and dark, right and wrong, movement and stillness, love and hate, etc.
- We are here to understand impermanence.
Why must we learn and experience these things?
So we can remember who we really are. And who are we again? An infinite, internal spiritual being of love and light. And we can’t experience the light without experiencing the darkness. Just like we can’t understand our infinite nature without understanding our impermanence.
But That’s Not The End of The Story
While journeying through the 3D world of duality and impermanence, we are also here to explore and create.
Science has been telling us existence is nothing more than a dance of energy. And we are here to manipulate that energy in unique ways.
Life is a game, and we are simply playing a character in that game so we can have this 3D experience that our soul wants us to have.
If you can remind yourself this is what you are doing here while in this meat suit, then (and only then) the nature of your existence becomes clear.
Until it inevitably doesn’t.
