In a previous post titled Overwatch 2’s Latest Season Is Bringing Changes to Multiple Heroes in the Support Class, I spoke about a few necessary changes which were coming to the support class in Overwatch 2.

In this post, I will speak about Blizzard addressing the two most significant complaints that many Overwatch players have.

Overwatch 2, the popular hero shooter game, has faced several issues and complaints from the community since its release less than a year ago. Blizzard, the game developer, has been introducing periodic adjustments to fix these problems.

However, two major issues have continued to persist — the progression system and the Play of the Game (POTG) system. These issues have been the subject of recurring criticism from Overwatch 2 players, demanding more changes from Blizzard.

Recently, Blizzard has made a “major change” to the game’s matchmaking system to improve its quality. This change has been introduced during the final stretch of Overwatch 2 Season 3. However, players still feel that more changes need to be made to address other issues in the game.

In a new blog post from Game Director Aaron Keller, Blizzard has finally acknowledged the existence of the two major issues — the POTG and the progression systems.

Keller has revealed that the On Fire feature in Overwatch 2 will see changes, and the progression and POTG systems will be revamped.

The new version of the POTG system will show a greater variety of game-making plays, addressing the criticism that the current system is inconsistent. However, Keller did not go into specific details about the changes.

The progression system in Overwatch 2 has been considered problematic and frustrating by players. The developers are working on a much larger hero and player progression system to address this issue.

This system will replace the current one and offer a lot of categories for players to level and show their progress. While the revamped progression system has no release date, Keller expects it to happen later this year.

Blizzard’s efforts to address the issues in Overwatch 2 are commendable, as the game continues to offer new content to keep the community engaged. Competitive tweaks are also being made, although their effectiveness is still being debated.

Blizzard has finally addressed the POTG and progression issues, which is great news for players. With a new season and more updates planned for the coming months, Overwatch 2 players are hopeful that these tweaks will bring more stability to the game.

The POTG system in Overwatch 2 highlights a moment in the match where a player had a big impact, such as getting team kills.

However, the current system has been criticized for being inconsistent, and players have been demanding a more varied system. The new system will address this issue and showcase a broader range of game-making plays.

The progression system in Overwatch 2 has been a source of frustration for players. The current system is considered problematic and does not offer a satisfying experience.

The new hero and player progression system being developed by the developers will replace the current one and offer a lot of categories for players to level up and showcase their progress.

Final Words

Blizzard’s efforts to address the issues in Overwatch 2 are commendable, and the changes to the POTG and progression systems are much-needed.

With more updates planned for the coming months, Overwatch 2 players are hopeful that these tweaks will bring more stability to the game.

While the new systems do not have a release date yet, Blizzard’s commitment to improving the game is a positive sign for the community.
