Are you looking for some websites in the tech niche to write for? This article contains 16 different websites looking for people knowledgeable in the tech world to write for them. Some of the topics these websites are interested in include software testing, programming languages, online marketing, big data, and AI.
Site Point
Site point is all about building websites. They are looking for content about HTML, CSS, and SASS. However, they also have a general web category for which they will consider other topics for.
Site Point is either looking for articles or tutorials. These pieces are generally very specific. So instead of writing about HTML in general, you would write about a particular subtopic. Many of the articles they publish are for beginners.
Payment: They pay $150.00 for articles and $200.00 for tutorials. They may consider paying more for a lengthier piece.
Smashing Magazine
Smashing Magazine published content about web development and design. They are specifically looking for opinion pieces, case studies, tutorials, and guides. They do not want unsolicited manuscripts; they want writers to pitch their ideas in an outline.
Payment: This website specifies that you will be paid but does not talk about the actual amount. I found one website saying the payment is usually between $50.00–200.00. Another website says that the individual editors will negotiate with the writer when discussing the article.
Soshace
Soshace is looking for technically correct articles of 1500 words. The topics you should write about include web development and remote work.
Payment: Although I could not locate payment on the site, it has been reported they pay $100.00 per article.
Software Testing Help
The name Software Testing Help says it all — they are a software testing blog that publishes tutorials on topics that would be helpful for QA testers. If you are good are teaching others how to use various software and would love to be a tester, this is a great opportunity.
The guidelines page has the application process details listed, including the sample they want to see before giving an assignment.
Payment: Payment is based on the number of hours the assignment takes, the completed work, and the quality. The range they pay is between $200.00–600.00.
Spark Traffic
Spark Traffic is an automated tool that helps generate thousands of visits to their website. They are looking for articles and tutorials for different topics such as Google Analytics, online marketing, Similiarweb, and Alexa.
They are looking for short tutorials of 300 or more words, regular tutorials of 750 or more words, and in-depth tutorials of 1500 words or more.
Payment: The payment range is from $75.00–300.00.
Spring Framework Guru
This website offers different tutorials on how to use Spring Framework. They are looking for people who can write articles for users with various skill levels.
They are specifically looking for anything to do with Spring Framework and articles on related topics such as building java, java programming, docker, Kubernetes, and alternative JVM languages.
Payment. Their payment schedule Is based on word count and the writer’s experience level. The rates start at $35.00 and go up to $150.00.
Techopedia
Techopedia is looking for a variety of articles on all kinds of technology. This publication looks for experienced people to write their articles; the more experience, the better.
Some of the types of subjects that this publication covers include big data, blockchain, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, machine learning, data science, IT business, IT career shifts, and programming languages.
Payment: They do not list a specific payment range on the website. Instead, they state they offer “…competitive article rates that will match your experience level.”
The Block
The Block is focused on cryptocurrency and blockchain. They want pitches for blockchain, digital currency, and cryptocurrency articles.
Payment: The payment range is $200.00–500.00.
Tutorial Board
Tutorial Board wants graphic-heavy tutorials written by writers for are experienced in CG software. Some CG software they are interested in includes Autodesk Maya, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe After Effect.
Their submission guidelines are very specific in what they do and do not want.
Payment: The payment listed on their writing guidelines is up to $150.00 a tutorial.
Tutorial Point
Tutorial Point publishes various tutorials on different tech-related subjects. Although they have a wide variety of topics, they cover they are looking for writers with knowledge and experience in areas such as web development, project management, IT, software quality management, mainframe technologies, Java technologies, telecommunication, accounting and finance, big data, Microsoft, SAP modules, business intelligence, open sources, and soft skills. They are also interested in academic subjects.
They are looking for a profile and sample work in the application. They pay a one-time fee; they do not offer profit sharing or royalties of any kind.
Payment: Their guidelines do not specify payment, stating it depends on many factors, including subject matter and length. However, it has been reported elsewhere that the payment is usually in the $250.00–500.00 range.
Vector Diary
Vector Diary publishes articles, information, and tutorials for Illustrator. They are pretty open to the subject matter as long as it is directly related to Illustrator. This could be step-by-step instructions on drawing an illustration or some type of technique you have developed that works for you.
They also give you instructions on formatting the article, what they expect, and an HTML template to follow.
Payment: The listed payment is $150.00. They will also link back to your website from your article.
Vonage
Vonage is looking for articles and technical tutorials using Vonage products. For instance, they want the writers to write original tutorials that have a point of view not found elsewhere. They want to see articles that talk about different ways to use their products or how to use their product with a third-party app or product.
These articles should be code-driven and not for beginners. They want their visitors to be able to take the code and build upon it.
Payment: 500.00 per post.
Wired
Wired is a prominent magazine that does print media (10 issues a year) and an online version. One of the exciting things about Wired is that they have realized the importance of the digital magazine and now pay based on the work submitted, not the medium they choose to publish it in. This is great news because most publications have not moved on to this type of thinking yet. In fact, some publications will only pay if it makes it to the printed version.
Wired publishes all types of content related to technology and culture, including AI, Covid-19, culture, games, gear, science, ideas, business, security, and climate. They do not accept unsolicited manuscripts; you will need to pitch your idea to them. However, their guidelines page has information on that, including the pitch length they expect to receive.
Payment: Short, online-only content starts at $250.00 and goes up from there depending on the time commitment of the article, the amount of research, and reporting that was necessary. Longer pieces (typically 2,000–10,000+ words) that were high intensity in reporting, research, and time start at $2,500 and go up from there.
Word Candy
Word Candy is a blog focused on content solutions, especially WordPress. Instead of a traditional writers guidelines page, they have an application form for potential freelancers to fill out.
Payment: Currently, they pay their writers 7 cents a word. They also mention an opportunity to transition to full-time work in the future.
WP HUB
WP HUB is looking for articles about web design trends, up-and-coming plugins for developers, coding best products, design concepts, and similar topics. They are looking for fresh content weekly and want to work with writers who are available for assignments. The word count they are looking for is 800–1200 words. Articles would also have visuals.
Payment: $100.00–200.00 an article.
xDev Magazine
xDev Magazine is a bi-monthly online publication. Although it is online, it still follows the standards of a typical magazine or publication with different styles of articles (short, long, feature) and columns. Because of this, there are a lot of different areas that are open to writers.
The actual writing guidelines are super-specific and long. If you are interested in writing for this digital publication, I suggest you spend time reading and understanding exactly what they are looking for.
Payment: The payment varies based on the type of article you write, including the length of some of the articles (such as a feature). However, the range is typically between $25.00–150.00.
