10k Views- My First Viral Story
I am so excited about it…
When I signed up on Medium a little over 2 weeks ago, I was hoping to make some money while doing what I love: writing. 100 bucks a month would be great, I thought.
I never would have expected what happened over the last few days.
…but I had a clear plan:
Now, my first story went viral.
Seems like my game plan worked out pretty well, even though I went against my own advice and published most of my stories on my own. I will try to publish more via publications in the future.
On the first days, I was happy about every single view. And now this.
10,000 people have seen my story. I can’t believe it. Of course, this boosts my motivation to maintain or even increase these numbers after this strong start.
We are talking about this story, by the way:
Let’s take a closer look at the numbers.
The earnings, in particular, make me happy.
I can urgently use money and have now found a way to make some serious money with medium, which is also fun for me.

162$ from a single story. 73,74$ in a single day. Crazy.
I hope it will continue to bring in some money for a few days.
It is interesting, however, that my other stories hardly bring in anything. My viral story accounts for a good 70% of my revenue. This is surprising with 31 published stories, in my opinion.
What made the story so successful?
I wish I knew…
Then I could repeat it at the push of a button. That would be awesome.
I think that the headline was well chosen, and the topic was interesting for many people.
I think the headline is maybe even more important than the story itself. It decides whether a reader clicks on your story or not. A great story with a shitty title is probably worthless. Get them hooked.
But what do I know? Once the ball starts rolling, that’s what happens, I guess.
I’m very happy about it and will hunt for the next viral story.
I hope I managed to motivate some of you. Thanks for reading.
