Writing Tips

1 Thing You Should Do Before Writing

It will give you a boost of energy and creativity

Writing is not an easy task; it has never been. You have to have the idea in your mind what you are going to write about. There are indeed a lot of ideas that we can write about. The problem is when you sit in front of the computer, you see what you will write about, and just you don’t feel it.

I was supposed to write something different right now, but really I did not have the mood to write that topic that I enjoy writing. I just stare in front of the computer, thinking about what I should write about.

I am not the person that decides what I should write at that moment. I usually have an idea before writing. Some people can write in that way. It just doesn’t work for me.

So without mood, I decided to write about what I am grateful for. It ended up with useful advice for myself.

Giving gratitude before starting your writing journal can be a massive boost of creativity in your daily routine.

“We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude.” — Cynthia Ozick

Sometimes we don’t realize how lucky we are and we take everything for granted.

Just being sit down in front of your screen is a huge reason to be grateful. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know what you will write about. The ability to write is something that all of us should be grateful for.

When we take things for granted, we started to believe that you deserve that. You think it is going to be forever close to you. Let me disappointed you. They don’t. They will vanish sooner or later.

The Power Of Gratitude

“Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.” — Buddha

Nowadays we take everything that we have around us for granted: the food we have, the bed we sleep, the coffee we drink, now in this uncertain times, the toilet paper was a good example, now that we don’t have it in those shelves at the stores we appreciate it more.

Gratitude helps us to keep the feet on the ground, to appreciate everything we have that maybe one day will not be here with us, this applies to everything since a small piece of bread to eat until your loved ones who are healthy and close to you.

A few minutes being grateful is enough to have a boost of positive energy for all your day. Being grateful before your writing routine will help you to get these benefits.

  • Negative thoughts disappear. When you start your writing routine with gratitude, there is an impressive energy fluid inside of you, your negative thoughts disappear. And you began to write and enjoyable way.
  • The creative inside you show up. Everything is connected. When you get that boost of energy provided by gratitude, ideas start to pop up in your mind, and you will be surprised how many ideas you can have.
  • Reach The Flow. Called how you want “the zone,” “the peak moment.” I agree that the flow comes when you do something you enjoy, and you are committed to it. People who don’t like writing sooner or later they will quit; it is just a matter of time. So you have to love writing regardless of the wealth you can get of it.
  • Increase empathy. This is so true when you are grateful for the things you have, or you don’t. You start to understand more and be more flexible with people around you. You started to listen more instead of the wish to be heard and understand more people’s feelings
  • Live your everyday life as your last day. It sounds a cliche, but being grateful makes me think and be aware that I shouldn’t even take my health and my life for granted. It reminds me to think I should live my life and enjoyed each moment. Show my feeling and how vulnerable I am, regardless of what people think.
  • You will sleep better. When you spend your day being grateful, trust me, you will go to sleep grateful for the day you got. You will be aware that you did well all day long. You can analyze something that you can improve the day after. Indeed, you will ready to sleep in peace.

There are so many reasons to be grateful for. They are countless, and those above are some of them. But trust me, there are a ton that I forget in this post.

“If you concentrate on finding whatever is good in every situation, you will discover that your life will suddenly be filled with gratitude, a feeling that nurtures the soul.” — Rabbi Harold Kushner

You got the idea.

Final Thought

As I wrote, there is a lot of reason to be grateful for. All of them are benefits for us. Sometimes, you do not realize what you have close to you. A healthy human being who is listening to you.

The idea of this post was to remind ourselves how lucky we are with our good and bad things.

While my mind was blocked for a moment I was writing what I was grateful for (sincerely a ton of stuff to write for me). It really helps to get more ideas and at the same time get that boost of positive energy and awareness that we always need in our daily life.

We keep changing day by day, week by week, so why not commit yourself to be a better person than yesterday. Is it something possible? Yes, right?
