Your Year or Your Fear

It’s your choice…

I love to listen — I love to learn. And I am blessed with so many sources that fulfil that need. And I love to share what resonates with my soul.

In listening to a webinar with Michael Bernard Beckwith of Agape International, in celebration of their 34th anniversary, I heard Prince Ea speak and share a quote from Viktor Frankl:

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms — to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. ~Viktor Frankl

Frankl wrote the book Man’s Search For Meaning which describes life in the Nazi death camps and its lessons for spiritual survival.

I have not read Frankl’s work — but I will now! And I see how his message has been translated throughout our time into messages by other messengers that I do-follow.

We are all messengers — sharing the same message in our own way…

The foreword of Frankel’s book is by Harold S. Kushner, author of the book When Bad Things Happen to Good People. In his foreword he shares,

“Life is not primarily a quest for pleasure as Freud believed, or a quest for power, as Alfred Alder taught, but a quest for meaning.”

Wow — those words are like music to me. I am someone who through my own journey in life has a passion to help others become empowered. And find and share peace. I write about living in joy every day of our lives…

…Yet to tap into our inner power and find that inner peace will only happen when we bring the spiritual meaning into our life. Otherwise, the dots do not connect.

“Frankl saw three possible sources for meaning,” Kushner continued, “In work (doing something significant), in love (caring for another) and in courage during difficult times.”.

“Suffering in and of itself is meaningless, we give suffering meaning, by the way, we respond to it”…

Kushner wrote that quote, but I have heard Wayne Dyer speak it. And over time others have shared as well.

We are all messengers — sharing the same message in our own way…

Who do you listen to? What messages resonate with you?

On the phone at work, I listen to people who are inside listening to the outside voice. I, on the other hand, being outside listening to the inside voice.

I am listening to the voice within…

Do I listen to the outside voice? It speaks loudly, sometimes screaming on social media, in the news and wherever else information is found.

I hear it but I choose to not listen. Full of negativity and fear… And I keep choosing. It’s a process. Sometimes I slip, but I grab the railing before I fall down the whole flight of stairs. I keep choosing the inside voice, a term I heard Iyanla Vanzant use recently.

Are you using your inside voice?

When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves. ~Viktor Frankl

In general, we do not like to change. We tend to be creatures of habit. Is this time forcing change? Are the messages changing for you? Are you changing?

We are in times like no other — change is happening, but there have been other times in history where life changed. Times that are collectively much worse than now.

Frankl wrote about “the prisoners who gave up on life, who had lost all hope for the future and inevitably were the first to die. They died less from lack of food or medicine than from lack of hope, lack of something to live for.”

Some might view that statement, taken directly from the foreword, as controversial. But this comes from a Frankl’s perception during his time in the camp as he looked at a bigger picture. He stated what helped him was the hope he had that he would see his wife again.

How many of us are feeling so overwhelmed, scared, hopeless? Or are surrounded by others who are feeling this way?

We are all energy. The illness starts in our energy field and if not noticed and taken care of, it comes out into our bodies as the disease.

When we are mentally in dis-ease — it comes out physically in disease.

I’ve shared this before, and now I will share it again. In Louise Hay’s You Can Heal Your Life book, she shares probable causes mentally for what we then deal with physically.

The closest to Covid:

Influenza (Respiratory Ailments): Response to mass negativity and beliefs. Fear. Belief in statistics.

Affirmation to redirect your energy: I am beyond group beliefs or the calendar. I am free from all congestion and influence.

Respiratory Ailments: Fear of taking in life fully.

Affirmation to redirect your energy: I am safe. I love my life.

As I read descriptions for both illnesses: Mass negativity. Fear. Statistics… Isn’t this what we are dealing with right now?!

And one could easily add Frankl’s: Lack of hope…

Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom. ~Viktor Frankl

We cannot control what is happening. We cannot control what is broadcast. We can control how we respond and what we choose to listen to.

And how we perceive this time. Is it breaking you or breaking you open? Is 2020 your year — or your fear?

Frankl shared that, “The greatest task for any person is to find meaning in his or her life.”

His meaning in life includes work, love and courage. So I ask you:

Work: How can you be of service? How can you be the leader of your life?

Love: How can you show compassion and empathy for others? How can you take the judgement out and understand that everyone is doing their best given their model of the world? Take the view of love over fear.

Courage: How can you be the light and come from a place of positivity? Go against the grain when needed? Do what you can for the collective conscious?

As Neale Donald Walsch shares: “We think that life is about to get the girl, get the guy, get the car, get the job, get the house, get the kids, get the better job, get the better car, get the better house, get the promotion, get the office in the corner, get the kids on their way, get the grandkids, get the retirement watch, get the cruise tickets, get the illness, and get the heck out…

That’s it. That’s a good life. But life has nothing to do with any of that. That is not our purpose in living. That is not the Agenda of the Soul.”

We are all messengers — sharing the same message in our own way…

Imagine…all the people living life in peace. You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us and the world will live as one. ~John Lennon

Wise advice from wise individuals geared toward other times in history — yet it applies to our time in history. We are making history right now…

What is the agenda of your soul? What is 2020 asking of you?
