Your Emotions Are Powerful Tools
Excerpts from Win the Day: How to win your daily battles with stress, anxiety & depression

I wrote the first draft of my book Win the Day: How to win your daily battles with stress, anxiety and depression as stories on Medium. Now, I am sharing those earlier posts as collections that focus on each section of the book. This section, Your Emotions, details understanding your emotions and developing emotional intelligence.
Oftentimes, our emotions overpower us. Strong emotional feelings can be paralyzing, leading to pain that makes us feel that we have no option but to continue on the same path. However, once you begin to understand that emotions are a type of communication from your nervous system to your conscious mind, you can take the next step of responding to those feelings, not just reacting to them. To better manage your emotions, you need to accept them, learn from them and then release those feelings, understanding that they have served their purpose.
In this part of Win the Day, you will discover how to read your emotions, and interpret what they are trying to tell you.
Then you will learn to balance those signals with your actions, putting you more in control of your life.
As you learn to manage your emotions, you can give that same care to others by developing empathy, being aware and sensitive to the needs of others.
From there, you will get some clues into how to discover your passions and turn those passions into opportunities to grow and profit from what you truly love to do, regardless of your level of ability.
You can read the first section, You, here.
