Your Allegories

A poem about desire, hope, and the belief in better days

Photo by Peter Olexa on Unsplash

I want to tell you every ode of my life ebbs of tears and darkness yet sprinkled with light and hope amongst the dead. From the moment I was taken from one eternity and placed in another, I’ve felt the other side of a delicate reality, the place between, the realms of you and me.

I want to unveil my soul yet such a thing is fleeting and bold splattered upon a canvas, I abandon the art for warmth along an alien shore.

I want to touch you hold you close whisper star truths in your mind’s eye show you cosmic rays bursting in Aurora Polaris might emerald fulmination and vermilion Mars watches as we explore the atoms, of each other’s lips.

I want to believe in love again, skylines that hold tomorrow instead of the ashes of yesterday’s apparitions. I want to believe there’s a place for hope a place brimming with us, on the backdrop of an ocean and sky, as one.

I want to always write to you words released like doves into the sky knowing the falcon sits nigh waiting for the right ones to cross its path thereby. I want to smile again feel crinkles along my cheeks and collect a million snowflakes, knowing each contains, a fingerprint of you.

I want to sleep again in the place of roses instead of bones, to feel free, like a child pondering works of impossibilities of magical zones.

with you, I know it can be with you, I know I can catch the fleeting moment in a word a story a kiss a final gasp.

I am alive in your allegories, at last.
