You Want To Know About My Bathroom Habits?
I’m sure you don’t but I’m gonna tell you anyway

Barb Dalton is the brains behind this bathroom challenge.
Here are the topics for the Bathroom Challenge. They are completely up to your interpretation, as long as your words fall within the boundaries of The Challenged Publication and Medium’s rules.
- Electric or Manual? I’m going to be truthful here. I have both. I’ve had good teeth all my life until I was 70. Then I started getting abscesses under my teeth. I don’t know if it was a result of RA or the medication I’m on for my RA that does nothing to alleviate it, but that’s another rant. I’ve lost three teeth in the past 12 months. I could go the whole root canal path costing thousands of dollars but I’ve opted for extraction. My dentist, Dr Phang, (that’s seriously her name) recommends I alternate brushing with my electric toothbrush with brushing manually.
- Bar or Liquid? This is easy. Liquid always. Years ago, I cleaned a shower with several years of soap buildup on the tiles. The tiles were like new when I finished. I was paid $14 an hour for this backbreaking work. I was pregnant with Keeley which didn’t make the job any easier.
- Supermarket or Salon? I generally buy my shampoo and conditioner from the supermarket, but I buy a good quality one when it’s on special. The brand I have currently is Essano and it’s brilliant. I stocked up when it was half price!
- Over or Under? Assuming this is referring to toilet rolls, definitely over. My ex used to insist I leave a little tail on the roll to make it easy for his big fingers to grasp it: one of the subtle ways he used to control me.
- Up or Down? Leave the bloody toilet lid up…please! This was one of the issues I had with the boarder I had to kick out. I resorted to taping the lid to the cistern so it couldn’t be put down: he retaliated by leaving the seat up, just like most men do. I don’t have an ensuite and midnight dashes to the toilet don’t give me time to lift the lid! You just wait till you get old. 😉
- Handwash or Sanitizer? Handwash. I was buying a plastic bottle a week until my daughter discovered a system called tirtyl where a glass bottle is refillable with warm water and a tablet that dissolves to make a foaming hand wash. Economical and ecofriendly.
- Squeegie or Scrub? Scrub- very occasionally. I have black tiles in my shower recess and a shower curtain which I throw into the washing machine occasionally too.
- Shower or Bath? Shower every day morning and night. I had a bath twice in four months when I was travelling. A special treat. The problem is I can get in but can’t easily get out.
- Morning or Night? I’m assuming this means showering. Morning AND night and sometimes late in the afternoon if I’m going out. I always have a shower before bed. I hate going to bed dirty, and always have a shower in the morning to wake me up and get the old joints mobile.
- Daily or Weekly? Washing my towels? I have two bath towels that I rotate whichever is the driest. I don’t wash them daily and they probably don’t last a week either — maybe 4 or 5 days. It depends on the season and how many extra showers I’m having. And yes, I do have a huge water bill!
