About Friends Prompt

You Pushed Me

A story of friendship

This seems appropriate for one of my favorite bees. Photo by Kim McKinney

You pushed me To a place I could not see Where I didn’t want to be But yet you knew.

You saw more Knew when I should close the door Into my life you pour Your point of view.

You show love I may give you a shove But you extend a dove Forever my crew.

This prompt totally scared me, and when I saw it, I was hoping no one would tag me in it, but the sting came from my sweet friend Melissa Bee🐝 . I knew it was good for me, though, and after stressing trying to fill my mind with rhyming words, I just sat down and did it.

Hopefully that one minute excluded editing time, as I believe every other word was misspelled. 😉

Here’s the prompt.

This poem was written in response to the writing prompt “About Friends.” The secondary requirement is that it must have some rhyme and be completed within 60 seconds.

And because I want to pass it on to someone else who may be out of their comfort zone, how about the always-up-for-a-challenge Stephen Dalton? Men have friends, too!

And here is Melissa’s response to the prompt.

And here’s one of my first articles on Medium that talked about the need for a good circle of friends and how to pick them. I’m a believer that good friends make for a good life. And while this was written about my women friends, I have some incredible men friends who meet all the requirements and don’t mind being in my “girl gang.”

Kim McKinney is terrified by things with a timer, so challenges that put her under the gun scare her. Luckily she also likes to be scared! She appreciates the friends who challenge her and grow her and see things in her that she has missed herself. Those are the real friends, now, aren’t they?
