You Lose The Biggest Opportunity You Dreamed of Having in Life, What would YOU do?

You Lose The Biggest Opportunity You Dreamed of Having in Life, What would YOU do?

I read this story of Susan Cain who is a renowned, author of the book Quiet & the co-founder of QuietRev. I have seen many people having doubts about shifting their path as an employee or business owner.

Susan was a corporate lawyer, who dedicated tons of hours, days, and years into her job & was on track to be a partner at her firm.

However one day her senior partner bumped into her and broke the news that she wouldn’t be a partner at the company. This broke her heart and made her burst into tears. Even though she didn’t enjoy the job as much, she had given her heart and soul into it with hopes of becoming a partner.

Later that evening she took a bike ride and cycled around the city with having no clue on what to do next. She had thoughts on travelling but then it suddenly dawned on her…

“That she always wanted to be a WRITER.”

She then just started writing that evening and joined a writing class the next day.

She initially had no expectation of earning while writing but she just wanted to pursue her passion in writing.

It took 7 years for her to write the book Quiet which became #1 New York Times bestsellers but she says she didn’t care how long it took nor was she planning to hit the bestseller list.

She felt good about just investing time in writing it. I believe this is the secret sauce for her book being a big hit.

She wasn’t worried about how much she was going to make or how many copies she was going to sell. She just wanted people to enjoy reading her book.

I’m sure she must have had the struggles in between this shift from being a lawyer to a writer. However, that’s how life is in general when we want to pursue something great. Just because we find something we are passionate about doesn’t mean that, it’s going to be a smooth road to success in that endeavor.

Small Note before proceeding:

If you don’t know who I am, I’m Dan & I have been in sales & marketing for over 9 years now. My main record has been as a Sales manager where I led a small team to do over a Quarter Million Dollars in Gross Profit Annually, low ticket sales so high volume.

I have spent the recent years diving mostly into marketing & have my fair share of experiences running and failing in business. Now I focus on networking with people as I love connecting with successful people, learning from them & providing them with gold nuggets where I can. I have a small network as of now and looking to grow it this year onwards.

I share content because I love doing that, I had been putting it off for a long time but I just wanna do it now. I share anything from running a business, recruiting & growing successful employees, buying & building businesses (something I have a growing interest in recently) & insights from chats I have with successful people within my network.

Also doing these helps me come up with different ideas & strategies. My only hope is that you find a few gold nuggets, at least 1 from what I share.

Can you follow me given that I promise to release content that’s of Incredible value?

Most of the time people talk glamorously about their success and the things they buy but very rarely do they talk about the ugly stuff that happens in between their pursuit to success.

I think about my life and the shift I made in 2018 leaving the corporate high-paying job to pursue a journey as a business owner.

There were so many failures that were pillars of lessons to make me who I am today. I had 2–3 business failures along the way but I figured out things that I thought at first was stuff I wanted to do, but eventually I realized they were not what I wanted to do.

Hadn’t I not done or tried them faster, I wouldn’t have known & would have spent more years figuring out they weren’t what I wanted to do.

In my point of view, once you make a shift towards wanting to do something different to your current path as an employee or a business owner, you might be able to achieve what you want within a year…

BUT 95% of the time, that’s not gonna be the case. It might take years to actually get to where you want to be BUT as long as you take joy in the process of doing it, you’ll embrace every part of that journey despite the failures.

But here is the thing, why do we need to wait till we run into a disheartening situation or a situation where we are forced to make a change in our career or life like Susan did?

What if we just decide & start TODAY to work on something we are passionate about or something we always wanted to do?

thinking of starting something you are passionate about

If you start now, you’ll experience what you need to experience & be ready to hit a bigger home run when you eventually hit that point of being forced to make a career change. You won’t be starting from zero.

You’ll start from level 4/10 or Level 5/10. You have already passed the initial inertia phase when starting something and have already experienced certain failures while seeing positive traction in your passionate venture.

I have learned through personal experiences, that the faster I start, the faster I fail & learn.

Now there are ways to reduce the risk of failures. I personally like to work backward or reverse engineer something that (probably another explanation article on this soon) I want to do to reduce the risks of failures. However, it’s important to keep in mind that it’s impossible to completely eliminate the risk of failure. It’s just what it is.
