Story arc #9 A Haunted House Party
You Explore The Gardens
Ignoring the shadow and taking it all in
This is a Choose Your Own Adventure Story. Start at the beginning here. Or go back to the previous chapter. Find out how to contribute to the ongoing story here.
As quick as it appeared, the shadow vanishes from view, leaving you only with the gardens to take in.
In the middle of the field is a quaint pavilion, surrounded by rows of colorful flowers, all of which sat in full bloom.
The aromas of such a space are not too overwhelming, but present enough to make a substantial difference to your mind.
Heading toward the pavilion, you spot a strange shape out of the corner of your eye and take a look.
In the not-too-far-distance is a spectacular mansion, resembling that of the structure you saw just outside the gate before you went past the gap.
The home stands tall in the sky, as if it were the center of the world, and so you seek to head over there after clearing out the pavilion.
In such a pavilion is something rather charming, for there is a chair and a table, as well as a cute black cat that soon scurries away out of fear.
Much like the shadow, the cat is gone as soon as it appears, and so you take a closer look at the table while taking a well-earned seat.
On the table is a book bearing a familiar symbol.
A symbol consisting of eyes looming above an abstract shape, below which you come to recognize as the mansion you saw just previously.
You open the book where the opening title is written:
Utilizing Alchemy To Prove Your Devotion To Lyre
Flipping further reveals an entire novel of contents, discussing the relation between nature and the god known as “Lyre.”
It also discusses how the group following this god is known as, “The Eyes,” and that their “dutiful mission” to fulfilling Lyre’s will, can be realized fully through learning the properties of alchemical ingredients.
You skim over a lot of the content, as much of it consists of jargon and repeated phrases that make no sense to you.
You close the book and leave the pavilion, staring once again at the dark mansion.
From this area are two diverting pathways that move about the rest of the gardens.
One is the path where the shadow originally ran into, and the other is completely unknown and dignified with a stone archway.
Do you…
- Go down where the shadow went.
- Venture down the new path.
You may contribute to this story with your own paths as you would like.
