You Can’t Freak Out Every time Medium Changes
You have to trust that it will work out

Early September, when Medium announced changes to its terms and condition, most of us panicked but we had good reason to.
Early October, Medium worked on the platform and made it more relational. Changes were made to the homepage, curation, and publications. And author names were nowhere to be found!
Medium listened to feedback, promptly fixed the issue, and put author names back.
Expect things to keep on changing
“Hello distribution, Bye curation,” most said. Things kept on changing. Others thought Medium pulled the plug on curation. Oh, no! But curation didn't go away and our stories were always distributed.
The only change is we no longer see the topics our stories have been distributed into. And I miss receiving those emails early in the morning, saying my story is curated. It was such a boost!
In the spirit of an ever-evolving Medium
Mid October, more changes rolled in! My desktop profile automatically updated. And there were other changes — super cool changes! Here is what’s new:
Customizable design
Crisp and clean profile pages. New logomarks and symbols! I panicked when I woke up and thought, “No! Medium had pulled the plug!” The medium symbol was nowhere to be found on my iPhone!
But it turned out they just changed the symbol. That really got me and still gets me! My brain still looks for the old symbol.
These changes brought along new designs, and now my page looks and feels more like me! I get to choose from three different fonts, a lot of vibrant colors, and headers! I couldn't help but bring the moon to my page!
Now that's my own personal moon! And a little bit of cosmic energy always does it! Check it out. Do you think it's cool?
I don't freak out because it has to work out
The pandemic forced me to stay home with my kid so I gave Medium all I got. It has to work out, and that's why freaking out isn't an option. It would mean something is wrong! Nothing is wrong, and I’m headed for a full-time income writing here. My mind is made. Ok? Medium? Yea? Cool!
I put my trust in Ev Williams and his crew so no matter how uncomfortable some changes are, I'm looking at the bigger picture. If I’m going to trust others to help me make this work, I have to trust myself first.
Trusting myself means believing and having a little faith in the platform that's given me this opportunity. I say let's all have a little faith!
Which of these changes is your least favorite? I’d love to know in the comments below.
