You Cannot Say to the Sun “More Sun” or to the Rain “Less rain”

But there is something that I can say to myself…

Instead of searching through millions of pictures online, I decided to tap into my own collection of nature’s breathtaking reflections. — Photo Credit: Melanie J.

The rain is always enough to maintain flow

I heard the pitter-patter coming from outside my window, a warm sensation encompassed my body as I listened to nature’s euphoric beats. I smiled with delight, opened my eyes, and became instantly grateful. I thought for a few seconds about the last time that the rain had fallen, but my memory failed me at that moment. With joy in my heart, the only thing that I desired was to venture outside and embrace the pure and pristine waters from the heavens.

The rain did not last long, but it was enough for what was needed. I dared not demand mother to provide more rain, for she is perfect in her being and knows what nourishment is needed to keep her essence flowing.

No rainbow or sun brought hope after the rain but hope still existed. My heart was full, and my soul was nourished from that fleeting moment. As I stood staring up into the sky, all I could say was thank you, God. I retreated inside and became aware that my body was cold and soaking wet — but my soul felt cleansed and renewed, and that was enough.

We are not separate from nature, but we separate ourselves

We are one with nature for we are part of her intricate system of flow. Just like the plants, we need the rain and the sun to nourish our bodies and cleanse our souls. Why do we see ourselves as separate from the trees and animals when we all depend on the same source to maintain life in this realm? Nature connects me to my true self — it is the one place where I find reprieve from the toxicity that has compromised this world we live in.

Nature is said to be perfect and abundant, and when observed with open eyes, we can see the true flow of what we did not create. For what nature creates flows in perfect harmony, but what man creates causes chaos, death, and destruction — vices that we are predisposed to accept, or perhaps we can choose otherwise.

Why can’t we accept the situations that arise in our daily life with such ease?

When Diana C. asked this question, I smiled to myself because the answer was obvious to me. I believe it is because we have been indoctrinated into a world separate from nature that has taught us to always want more, that what we have is never enough, and that we are never enough. So, unlike nature where we can’t make demands, we can demand more from our spouses, more from our children, more from our bosses, and more from ourselves, etc. Nothing is ever enough, nothing is just accepted with ease — we always seem to find ourselves in a place where we demand more.

But wanting more isn’t all bad because I believe we are entitled to live an abundant life. However, the lines are blurred because abundance is relative to each of us. For some, abundance is a simple life with simple things, but for others, abundance is living an extravagant life filled with all the luxuries of this world. But at that point, are there demands for more abundance, perhaps so, which means there will never be enough.

We sometimes create difficult situations because of our approach to life. However, if we returned to the sacred simplicity of nature, and observe what she provides, we will realize that her cycle keeps her flow abundant. Nature gives enough to us, and when I am submerged into her essence, I realize that in those moments I demand nothing — I surrender with ease and that becomes enough for me.

I cannot say to the Sun “more Sun” or to the rain “less rain”, but I can say to myself that I am enough, and I have abundance.
