January Writing Prompts: 17th-21st
Fabtastic, promptastic & KTHTastic topics for our adventurous writers

A publication without prompts is like socks without feet, fire without heat and a heart missing its beat! In other words, it’s pretty damn dull and we don’t do dull at KTHT.
One thing I missed a lot about this platform is coming up with prompt ideas and reading people’s take on them. It fascinates me how every person comes up with a different interpretation and approach to a particular topic. There are as many perspectives in the world as there are people, and each one can teach you something new, making you a little less ignorant and a little more open-minded.
Before my online detox, I would’ve never used prompts inspired by quotes. Today, however, I’m wiser and know better than to let a good quote slip away from my memory. Speaking of memories, if you haven’t watched/read “Memoirs of a Geisha” please give it a chance — I promise you will not regret.
As mentioned in the picture above, the first two prompts are extracted from this movie. I especially loved the one about the Sun and rain — already working on writing an article about it. How beautifully said though, don’t you think? Even if you demand more from the Sun or less from the rain, you’ll have to accept that neither will roll over to do as you please. They just are and continue to be — and you accept it. Why, oh why, can’t we accept the situations that arise in our daily life with such ease?
Of course, I had to drop two questions in there as well. KTHT without meaningful questions, is like your favorite shoes without laces! So please, do reflect and do write your heart out.
Quick recap of the prompts:
→ You cannot say to the Sun “more Sun” or to the rain “less rain”
→ You cannot read “loss”, only feel it
→ How old would you be if you did not know your age?
→ What does it feel like cleaning out your emotional closet?
Do we have any rules? No, we don’t. There’s no timeline, but if you want to keep up with our prompts (each editor will publish a set of prompts each week) you’d better keep an eye on the pub. Oh, most importantly, don’t forget to tag KTHT and me or my fellow editors Ravyne Hawke, jules or Spyder so that we don’t miss it.
Thank you for your time! Hope you enjoy KTHT’s first week of prompts after this long break.
