You Can Stay Happier and Healthier Without Spending Money

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” — Mahatma Gandhi

Working from home has its perks, not waking up early, no office commute, avoiding chilling cold. But without the guard rails of going into the office and coming home, we’ve found ourselves in a world with longer days and more meetings — and are dealing with the burnout that comes with it.

Our days are mostly filled with back-to-back Zoom calls, little or no in-person interaction with coworkers, and more distractions at home from partners, kids, pets, and that pile of clothes, dishes we absolutely must sort before turning to our next work task.

If you live alone, this winter could be extra challenging mentally and physically to deal with.

This time could be a bit more difficult for you and you need to be mindful how you’re going to spend your time and find the harmony in your life without making major compromises including your mental and emotional health.

Below are some micro steps that you can incorporate to have a peaceful life and have enough time to look out for yourself and people around you.

Schedule Time To Connect With Friends And Family

We all need time to connect with loved ones and it can help you to overcome any stressful situation.

You can set up time to connect with your friends and family in advance. This way you can have plenty of time to chat and talk without any major interruption.

Send a text or message and see when you can connect and talk with them.

You can have theme parties or virtual happy hours or maybe some games to entertain each other or maybe just talk.

It can help you to get through loneliness and self isolation.

De-clutter Your House

This is the perfect time to rearrange your house or remove the things that you are no longer using.

It can create positivity around your home and also it can improve your mental health.

It’s proven that clearing your physical space can boost your mood and have a positive impact on mental health as well.

You can remodel your house or move some furniture around or paint a wall with new color or get some indoor plants.

You can also rearrange your closet, give the items to goodwill that you haven’t used in last year or are probably not going to use it for another year or so.

It can make you feel good and will create an atmosphere where you are going to feel more connected with yourself.

Avoid Negative Thoughts

I know it sounds easy but it’s the most difficult part to achieve, That’s the truth. I am not demotivating you but I can totally relate to the struggle we all have to avoid constant negativity around us. Especially when you’re working away from your family and friends.

The only thing you can do is to create a harmonious environment in your home and stay connected with people who bring joy and positivity in your life.

When you feel grateful, your mind also starts turning up its attention.

You can start with a gratitude journal and write three things every morning, you’re grateful for.

Create an interesting morning routine. Do prepare for a yummy breakfast one night before, so that when you wake up next morning, you have something to look forward to.

Stay Present

Try not to overthink about the things that you can’t control. Instead of live in present and work out on things you can control and manage. Don’t worry about past that has happened and similar don’t over think about future as well. The secret of happiness is living in the present and make most of it without losing yourself.

I hope these points are going to make this winter a bit more warm and cozy for you. If you still feel lost and don’t know what to do, reach out for professional help.

And if you know someone who is in a similar situation, do not hesitate to extend your support and helping hand.

You are not alone and we all are together.
