You Can Make Money With Zero Member Reading Time

I’ve recently seen a lot of postings about the changes to Medium. I am facing problems with my stats and reads. Significant drops are seen in stats and earnings. Even though I interact with my fellow authors and post frequently, my views are still not that high. The algorithms used by Medium must be experiencing some unusual behavior.
I just published a piece on “Member Reading Time.” For calculating earnings, Medium bases its calculations on “Member read time.” When it comes to earnings, member reading time is the most important component. Undoubtedly, some additional aspects influence the earnings on Medium. However, the most significant factor that contributes to our daily earnings is member reading time.

Changes are common for all Medium writers because they occur frequently there. However, it has some impact on the number of views and revenue. All of this has made me more aware of my statistics and revenue. I recently came upon some peculiar facts while skimming through the metrics and income graphs for the stories.
As you can see from the screenshot, the income graph details how much time was spent reading each day and how much money was made. You can see that on August 31 for a specific story, I earned $0.34 for 12 minutes in the graphic up there.
As you can see, this is exceptional because it caused me to make about $0.64 in only 34 seconds, nearly twice as much as I did in 12 minutes. The following observation I made is the most shocking.
You can see that for a total reading time of 0 minutes, I earned $1.86 in the image above. Given that our reading time directly affects our income, I find that strange. Why does it cost me approximately $2 for a 0-second read?
There are so many unknown things about Medium that do not have any information online. So there must so many hidden things that affect our earnings and we have so much to discover.
