You Ask Me to Believe in the Mystical and the Mysterious

When reality feels so real

You know how they say the more you think about something the more things similar to that something you are thinking about you begin to notice? For example, you have been thinking of buying a new car — a bright red sports car, fast, flashy, and fun to drive. You go to the show showroom and you see it and you swear you heard a choir of angels. It was love at first sight. You think well surely this is one of a kind, I have never seen one like this on the road before — not this color, not this style, not this trim and rims and body, ever. You take it for a test drive and even before you are back to the store with it, you already saw three exactly like it on the road? And you wonder, how come I never saw those vehicles before?

Something similar happened to me this past weekend.

The time is drawing near for my first book to be out of from publishers and onto virtual and physical shelves. It was a book that I never thought I had in me but only shows that we never know what is really inside us creatively to come out until opportunity meets a seemingly idle thought.

So here I was, preparing for the last bit of the process which was to get a few persons, famous or otherwise to take a read of my book and give a good review, when scrolling through one of my online reading lists I began to see story after story about people’s experiences with writing and self-publishing or even those who went through a traditional publishing company to have their precious work made available for the general public to enjoy.

The experiences reported varied from the scared crapless, to the slightly nervous, anxious, and feeling slightly unprepared to the happy and satisfied. There were writers who felt the what-if-I-don’t-get-a-single-copy-sold to those who reported the I-made-triple-X-dollars-from-the-sale-of-my-first-book. I began to feel the first tremours of nerves, wondering what the hell was I getting myself into. This was the Law of Attraction for you — the more you think about something, the more of it you get!

After the first few minutes of angst, I began to calm down. I should know better for there was no way this book would have come about if it was not for forces greater and more powerful than me. The orchestration of events was nothing short of miracles — or better put, the result of being aligned with the greater part of who I am, Source Energy. And at this juncture, so near to the end of what is to be an awesome beginning, I ought not to begin welcoming these beads of panic.

“Relax,” I heard in my head. I knew those voices; they have been there since the first time I began this awakening journey and took to writing my first story. I have come to refer to them as my Spirit Guides. “We got this,” were the next few words.

I gave a disbelieving laugh and responded quite tartly, “Well if you got this, where is the review from that world-famous meditation and mindfulness guru that you lead to me ask for?”

They did not respond.
