The Moon Circle
You Are Whole
Intentions and reminders for New Moon in Gemini May 2020

In every atom, there is a reflection of the whole.
— Jay Woodman
Is anyone else feeling pulled in two directions right now, or even multiple? Is your heart saying one thing and your mind another?
Do you ever feel like you’re just too much; too complex or multifaceted? Do you feel like different sides of yourself, or that your wishes, wants, and needs are at odds with one another?
Well, hello there fellow biped, welcome to the intricacies of the human experience!
On top of that, we’re entering a new moon in Gemini; the season of the sign of the twin, which might leave many of us feeling exceedingly torn.
Add the current state of affairs, where most of us have been isolating and distancing for at least a few months. With spring in full bloom, at the cusp of summer, the situation asks us to remain recluded, yet nature gregariously calls us out.
The air sign Gemini has one foot on the ground and another in the skies, and that’s what it feels like right now.
The moon casts a different face every day. Yet the moon is always the moon. It is always whole. Always reflective.
— Thomas Lloyd Qualls
The moon herself is the perfect image of this; many-sided and with a new display every day, she remains the same, complete whole nonetheless.
Coequally, you, with your many sides and faces remain a whole person, regardless of how torn or conflicted you may feel.
I find I am constantly being encouraged to pluck out some one aspect of myself and present this as the meaningful whole, eclipsing or denying the other parts of self.
— Audre Lorde
Wholeness has been a huge topic for me personally lately, grappling with issues around identity, the use of a pseudonym, and the desire for unbridled, authentic self-expression. Through this exploration, I’m coming to terms with my discrepancies and accepting my ‘too-muchness’. In fact, I’m not too much, I’m just enough.
I am whole.
You, too, are a whole person, despite your sometimes seemingly opposing qualities or emotions. They’re all just as much you; equal parts of the united, complete whole that is you.
You don’t owe it to anyone to appear consistent or regular. You’re just fine the way you are — with your light and your darkness, your highs and your lows, your ups and your downs — you are complete.
You are whole.
To be great, be whole; Exclude nothing, exaggerate nothing that is not you. Be whole in everything. Put all you are Into the smallest thing you do. So, in each lake, the moon shines with splendor Because it blooms up above.
— Fernando Pessoa
The only person you owe is yourself; to not hold back, to not pluck out pieces of the whole in order to soothe the comfort levels of others. You owe yourself the freedom to be whole in everything that you do, regardless of what that looks like to you.
And, guess what, you already are, even when the world, internally or externally, feels topsy-turvy!
In emptiness lies wholeness.
— Abhijit Naskar
While it may seem counterintuitive, especially if you feel pulled outward and upward, now might be the time to go even deeper within.
For the full moon in Taurus, two weeks ago, I wrote about the meaning of home; how we carry a sense of it within, and how we even are our own homes. This thread continues over to the topic of wholeness:
When we come to a place of discord, we’ll see that when we go inside—to our home within—we can find harmony in the knowing that it all springs from the same source. That source is ourselves.
We are whole.
The soundscape for this new moon is a bit all over the place and a true Gemini. It also reflects many different sides of me and my moods: Starting slow, grounded and meditative it heats up—quite a lot—to a bit of a sexy climax before it ascends to outer space.
With it, your own playlist, or with none at all, I invite you to look at and examine your many opposing directions and to take them with you to the depth of your being. Perhaps you will see how they spring from the same core — that they come together to form a beautifully complex whole? That you are whole.
With heartfelt wishes and all my love,
