The Moon Circle

We Are All One!

Intentions and reminders for Libra Super Full Moon April 2020

Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.

—Chief Seattle

This quote has been a favorite of mine for as long as I can remember. A fundamental basis on which my entire belief system rests, I bring it up frequently and find it meaningful in all kinds of situations and circumstances.

When I used to run a platform promoting local and sustainable design, this quote reminded me of the importance of caring for the environment, as well as supporting my community of makers.

These words continue to inform how I eat, what I buy and wear, as well as how I treat my fellow citizens.

Right now, they feel even more relevant than ever:

All things are bound together. All things connect.

We’re all one!

This evening and tomorrow morning, the 7th or 8th of April, depending on where we are in the world, we’re welcoming the brightest and boldest full moon this year: the pink super moon in Libra.

I should mention that I’m far from an astrologer and I take horoscopes with a grain of salt, still, there’s no denying that the moon affects the world around us, and thus, our mental and physical bodies.

We are not just a part of nature, we are nature.

I pay close attention to the moon cycle and how it affects me. I also regularly host new- and full-moon circles around my large dining table at home. While these meetings are, just as much, excuses to come together and check-in with each other, we always incorporate a theme and set intentions for the evening and the coming weeks.

Greed, corruption, violence, sin, deception all come from a lack of understanding that we’re all connected.

— Brownell Landrum

Since we’re now finding ourselves in the midst of a worldwide pandemic and our in-person meetings have been canceled for the foreseeable future, I thought this would be a great time to start sharing this ritual via a virtual moon circle here on Akasa:

The quote by Chief Seattle came back to me as I was philosophizing over what we’re learning from this pandemic, and the main thing that came up was how connected we all are.

Made evident by the speed and efficiency with which it has spread across the globe, this virus is literally painting a picture of the intricate web of life which we’re all part of—visualized through growing, interconnected dots on a world map.

This works as a reminder that while our other actions may not be as visible or have such drastic immediate consequences, everything we do, big or small, makes waves.

Heading over to one of my go-to astrology sites, Forever Conscious has similar thoughts about this full moon:

If there was a mantra for this Full Moon it would be “We are all in this together.”

The April 7–8th Full Moon calls for us to start thinking about how we can come together to support one another…

Moonomens further talks about what it means to be an individual and how our personal power impacts the collective:

We all have a frequency we can send out. This is powerful. Until now maybe we’ve been told that we can only listen to the broadcast or receive. But, we are beginning to understand and experience our capacity to radiate and impact the collective. (…) Libra energy loves to help others and care for others. We are learning the best way to save others is to understand who we are.

To realize that everything in the universe is connected is to both accept our insignificance and understand our importance in it.

— Jeffrey Fry

We’re all connected!

I’d like to propose, as a theme for this full moon, the idea that we’re all cut from the same cloth, and that we share the same invisible string; held together by interconnected fibers.

Each action, every movement, and even every thought affects the whole cloth.

In this time—one that is deeply challenging for many, in a multitude of ways—it matters even more what we radiate and send out.

As an intention for the coming weeks, I’d like to invite copious compassion, softness, and tenderness, not simply directed towards others, but at ourselves, with the knowledge that it starts there first.

Now is not the time to be overly demanding, strict or demand too much of ourselves, but one to be gentle, kind and cut ourselves some slack, in order to offer the same to others–because we’re all bound together.

We cannot live for ourselves alone. Our lives are connected by a thousand invisible threads, and along these sympathetic fibers, our actions run as causes and return to us as results.
