Yes, More Tips to Write Better

But it works for me, my Oprah Aha moment

Hey, I am new here. I have found that writing for me is therapeutic. But I won’t lie to you and tell you I am also here to earn.

I love the vibe here, especially with the writers. The successful writers here share, their tips to write better, their writing tips for beginners, and their writing advice.

I dont think I am qualified (yet) to say I am a successful writer, but success is relative. I was able to be curated in a topic that I wrote about because it was dear to my heart. It was something important to me, to talk about accessibility.

Best writing advice, drumroll, please!

Here is my writing tip that I want to share, and it is to write about you already know, and it makes perfect sense. It hit me like that boy in high school hit on me, which I will share soon, but this is it, my eureka writing moment, what Oprah calls, the Aha moment.

Write, what I already know.

And that means writing about my life. This is not about a tell-all book or diary. But I can draw inspiration from what I already know or from my life.

Like many here, we may think our life is boring. But we all have stories to share. Some carry life lessons that can resonate with an audience seeking an explanation of why they are experiencing the same thing in their lives. An audience who can identify with your story.

It also makes sense when you tell something about you already know. You don’t have to spend a lot of time doing research.

And that is what I was doing when I write about the things I know little about, like product reviews. I am not cut out to review stuff unless I personally use them or at least tie it up to something I already know.

Like when I wrote about the new AppleWatch. Because if you are being led to buy the Apple Watch as an oximeter, it is overpriced. And it was being marketed for a purpose that is not the best thing about the Apple Watch. Yes, and you can get a good oximeter for under $20.

Sometimes I write about things I am interested in, like the Tanqueray Fund story. And while I was into the story, if you haven’t read about Tanqueray, she is a great storyteller and in the process of her sharing her life, she is now a millionaire and very much deserved every cent of it.

It took me time to finish my article because I have to finish the serialized stories about her. But I loved doing it and many here have read it, it was my most viewed article so far.

My most successful article in terms of getting more ‘followers’ is about being curated. Again, a personal story. It may have been something my fellow beginners here needed to read or hear. Beginner writers like me need more inspiration to keep on writing because if success can happen to someone, it can happen to anyone.

Back to my writing tip, write about what you already know and it will make your journey here as a writer, faster. I t will keep the fear of not having anything to write about locked together with your inner critic.

Because I read it here somewhere that for you to be successful, you just have to keep on writing. And this is what I will be doing, for now, write without research because I will be writing about my life.

By the way, I finished writing this article in 12 minutes flat. Yes, I'll be spending more time, editing this but that is saved for another story.

P.S. I am about to publish this in 1 hour flat.
