The new Apple watch series 6 is being marketed as a Blood Oxygen Monitor, one of the things people learned about the coronavirus is pulse oximetry. It refers to the measuring of blood oxygenation noninvasively. Some doctors say an oximeter can be used in checking oxygen levels so that low oxygen levels can be caught early especially if the patient is asymptomatic or at home.
But if you are thinking of buying the new Apple watch simply because of its blood oxygen monitor feature, instead, buy a $20 pulse oximeter which serves the same purpose and has been proven to be far more accurate as it measures through the fingertip rather than the wrist.
