POETRY
Year to Year
Sunrise, a new day begins- never-ending poem response
the work, by sunrise make it half-complete the feeding for sure, at the very least for nothing comes before the hungry
your body knows this crunching through hardened snow your body knows this dripping from leaking lofts and autumn darkness your body knows —
automatically scoops grains in buckets the right amount of supplements the hay through barn windows baskets, rusted spiders awaken by your gloved touch
mucking through stiff joints aged noticeably year to year both yours and the sleepy horses’.
