Jungle Gloaming
Gloaming- a Never-Ending Poem Response

twilight falls in the jungle
the hazy heat softens
as creatures of the dark lazily open their eyes
the night sounds begin
frogs croak a chorus to lullaby me to sleep
animals camouflaged watch me only inches away

spirits live here spirits live everywhere drumming in the river it is their time to play
I am the boa constricting squeezing life out of me
I am the bat awakening in the shadows hunting for prey
I am the jaguar outside my tent waiting to kill me did he kill me? am I alive? or dreaming this dream this twilight dream dreaming myself into existence

stars start to twinkle overhead no city lights to dull them
they speak to me and reflect back that what I am that what I am not
as above so below as within so without
there is no me only all there is no all only me home
I drift off to sleep trusting that the sun will rise the river will flow the plants will whisper their secrets to me
when I open my eyes tomorrow
Many thanks to Dennett for inviting me to play with the Never-Ending Poem. Her quote prompt was Gloaming.
And now it’s my turn to invite 10 poets with a new prompt:
Sunrise, a new day begins
Come and join the dance!
Agnes Louis, Pablo Pereyra, Jack Herlocker, Jack Preston King, Suzanne V. Tanner, Sylvia Wohlfarth, Tre L. Loadholt, Thomas Plummer, Thomas Gaudex, Samantha Lazar
This is how it works: write a poem on my theme of Sunrise, a new day begins and then come up with a new prompt and tag 10 poets — tada, the Never-Ending Poem!
