Yard Couch Submission Guidelines [2023]
Just pals on a couch, in a yard

What is Yard Couch?
Yard Couch is a top publication for experienced writers. It’s for people who take risks, live interesting lives, and understand how to convey all that through their prose.
Most of our articles focus on investing advice, cryptocurrency, satire, philosophy, and reasons why big tech and Dr. Faucci are Orwellian nightmares.
We don’t exclude any topics. What we want are quality articles that speak from experience. Our only aim at Yard Couch is to publish the most unique stories on Medium. Stories that are intrepid. Here’s a good example of what an excellent Yard Couch story looks like:
What Can I Submit?
Stories can be any length, but they have to be cleanly formatted and valuable for our readers.
The best way to make it big on Medium is to share what you’re an expert at. Write about what you love, not what’s trending. Don’t get bogged down in trying to emulate something that you’re not. Be you, and let it show in your writing.
How Should I Format?
The articles we publish here are clear, concise, and formatted like the aforementioned Gary Vee article. Valuable information is only useful if the reader can easily follow what’s going on.
Try not to use too many images to distract readers from the content. Keep your articles clean and not so flashy that it looks trashy. Let’s reiterate that one more time. DON’T SEND US SALACIOUS TRASH.
Remember, many readers prefer to skim, so try to get to the point without so much window dressing. Shakespeare once said, “Brevity is the soul of Wit.” Basically, get to the point.
Mini-Guidelines:
- Cover photo that gives credit to the artist
- Clear & concise title and subtitle
- No bulky paragraphs! Make sure your paragraphs don’t take up the entire page. We will instantly reject articles like this.
- Passes the Grammarly test. Download Grammarly and make sure there are no mistakes in your article.
- Stays on topic. Tangents are nice every once in a while, but don’t overdo it.
Note: Please submit only unpublished drafts so you can get more exposure through the publication.
How Do I Submit?
Due to an increase in traffic, we’ve tightened down on how many new writers we’re accepting.
If you think you have what it takes to write for us then email a draft to one of our lead editors Isaiah McCall at [email protected] or Cody Collins at [email protected] with a link to your unpublished draft. Or you can also connect with the publication on Twitter here.
Once you submit your draft, our editorial team will review it as soon as possible and publish it if it fits our publication.
Prior to submitting a draft, we recommend checking out our other stories to get a good feel for the types of pieces we run. Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
