a poem

You say it’s not racism because you’re simply asking me to follow rules
but until you contextualize that you only enforce the rules when it comes to BIPOC and that specifically for us there is no leeway,
we see a bigger picture systemic pattern.

Hi I’m Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她) and I remember constantly feeling like I wasn’t enough for not meeting these insane rules being applied and written, until I reached out and asked how others were coping with the rules, to be told that oh, no one actually needs to follow these rules, X doesn’t care. Yet, X doubled down backwards to ensure that I followed every last minute detail followed the rules. That was eye-opening. PS, I PUBLISHED A BOOK 📚
