Summary

The author shares personal experiences of finding peace and experiencing the power of intention by walking in the rain without protection during their tenure as a security guard.

Abstract

The narrative "Walking In The Rain" recounts two distinct experiences of the author while navigating the rain without an umbrella. As a former security guard at a local hospital, the author describes the serene and reflective moments of walking home in soft rain, often with eyes closed, savoring the sensation of raindrops. In contrast, during heavy downpours, the author would visualize a moment without rain, which surprisingly seemed to pause the rain until they reached home—a phenomenon they relate to the principle of reaping what one sows. This reflective piece is a response to a Monday prompt by 𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘊.

Walking In The Rain

Monday: Fresh rain brings hope

Have you ever walked in the rain?

Let me tell you about two situations that happened to me.

The first one is the answer to the question above.

Back in the days when I was a security guard at the local hospital, I used to leave work at 10:00 pm, and sometimes it was raining. If you are like me, most of the days you don’t carry an umbrella, and it is on these days that rain.

Sometimes I just went for it, even having a nice and protective coat with a hood, I didn’t use the hood. It was a 10 minutes walk maximum, and I needed to try to walk in the rain.

For brief moments it was me and the rain and when I felt was safe, I had my eyes closed and only felt the rain on my face, it was priceless.

I only did that when the rain was soft, when it was strong rain I did a little bit different.

During my work time, I visualized walking without rain, and you know what?

It worked… every time it was raining cats and dogs, and I didn’t have an umbrella or didn’t matter if I had one or not, I just asked for a brief moment without rain, just until I came home, and the moment I was at home, the rain had started all over again, stronger than ever.
