One of the things I enjoy doing most is pulling crazy ideas for stories out of my overactive imagination. Most of the time they’re just half-baked and not anything I’d try to work with. But brainstorming can be fun if it produces a gem you find worthwhile. So, I’m giving you a free glimpse into my goofy imagination, in the hopes that it just may spark some ideas for your next story or article.

And, here we go!

#1. Scientists have discovered the real reason we have an appendix. And it changes life as we know it. Why? What happens to those who still have one?

#2. Time begins going backward. How would you know at first? What would change?

#3. What if scientists engineered a machine that folds space and would allow someone to travel safely and instantaneously? What would happen to airplane travel? Or travel between planets? What if it has an unexpected side effect?

#4. You’ve just received a bouquet of balloons. One pops and starts a disastrous chain of events.

#5. You wake up and the neighborhood is empty. No people, no noise. What is your first thought?

#6. You have the ability to tame every animal you come near. Except one.

#7. You’ve just won a million dollars, but you have until midnight to spend it.

#8. You’re part of an experiment in socializing. Today, you will talk to 10 strangers and tell them your life story. What would you leave out?

#9. The museum tour guide warns you to leave all the mirrors covered. She doesn’t explain why, but you’ve heard the rumors and you’re curious to see if they’re true.

#10. Your dreams have been coming true for the past week. Last night you had a nightmare and you woke up remembering every detail. Do you still go to work?
