How to write a Medium story with curiosity.

Maintaining curiosity throughout your content, especially with affiliate marketing on Medium is of paramount importance. Because your Medium story must be interesting enough that your reader reads to the end.

Reaching your Medium story “footer” as it stands. And I know I might be sounding like a broken record, but please. With affiliate marketing and Medium, you must read and understand the Medium Rules.

But also remember that your Medium story title, subheading, featured image, and first 2 to 4 sentences are equally important. This is where you must attract attention.

So much so, that your reader stops scrolling through their feed, just to take a look. Creating curiosity is an art, but really just a few basic principles. You just need to figure out how to “keep them reading”.

This is why I enjoy writing about content marketing strategies. How-to, and step-by-step guides with solutions to problems. That way the article is mostly “tutorial” in nature.

With a tutorial or a demonstration on how to solve a particular problem, (like traffic for instance) it kind of like leads your readers through the entire article. Because it is a sequence of steps for instance.

You must maintain curiosity, so your reader reads the entire article, especially when it comes to affiliate marketing on Medium. But your article must also seldom be about the affiliate product itself.

With the exception of course when you decide to write a review article. But we will get to all of that a bit later on in this article. Because the ability of your content to solve problems is where curiosity starts.

Writing on Medium for affiliate marketing.

Why should you write on Medium with affiliate marketing? Well, effectively, by just writing on Medium you are joining together a rather gigantic audience. Because you have sharing options for each Medium story.

In fact, you have the opportunity to join all the mentioned sites below together. You can get even more exposure when you start creating your own Facebook and LinkedIn groups!

With Facebook, for instance, you have the option to share your Medium story on your profile, a page, a group, or even on a friend’s timeline. I like to share to my Facebook feed, and from there share the Medium story with groups.

Medium.

LinkedIn.

Twitter.

Facebook.

Above are the four reasons you want to write on Medium if you are going to be successful with affiliate marketing. Using Medium correctly and to its full potential can mean a lot of laser-targeted traffic.

Another added advantage is that you can create a maximum of 5 Twitter profiles to the best of my knowledge. That way, you also get to share your Medium story (with your affiliate offer) in multiple Twitter feeds.

If that is not reason enough to write on Medium if you are an affiliate marketer or plan to be an affiliate marketer. Then I really don’t know what is. For lack of a better expression. Medium writing can be a “goldmine”.

Write without mentioning the affiliate offer.

Especially with online marketing and making money online. There is a huge demand for unique solutions, answers, and especially guides. But you must offer your own solutions.

Write your Medium story based on a solution you came up with to solve a particular problem. With your Medium story, your reader must have access to a strategy that works.

Regardless of whether they purchase your affiliate marketing offer or not. The point is to offer value, and in that gain your reader’s trust. Because when you start solving problems, you also create curiosity.

When your content offers enough value and curiosity, you will never need to mention the affiliate offer. As long as your content gets your reader to your Medium story footer area.

Focus on building an audience, not generating sales. Therefore your Medium story footer area might include some of the following suggestions. Or you can take a look at this Medium story’s footer area.

Or just view the illustration above. But the illustration is just for demonstration purposes. Please DO NOT copy the text as illustrated, it serves only as a guide. You must do the research and come up with your own Medium story footer content.

When you include a link to your “About” page, for instance, you also get more profile visits on Medium. And getting more profile visits means more Medium story views and reads. The primary objective is to build a responsive audience.

Affiliate offer positioning with Medium writing.

In my opinion, never include your affiliate offer several times in your Medium story. Because the story should not be about the affiliate offer, but rather the solution it offers.

Just above the “Affiliate Disclosure” is where I like to place my affiliate offer as a “pull quote block by clicking the quote icon twice” on Medium. Then redirect to the “Source”, yes, the affiliate product.

This is why creating curiosity is so important, as mentioned earlier. All your promotional content, disclaimers, etc. should be in your Medium story footer area. But that’s just a personal preference.

When your reader reads the entire article. Then they will be much more likely to view your affiliate offer, providing it is directly related to the topic. But it must also be able to solve a similar problem, therefore product knowledge is rather important.

Depending on the particular content marketing strategy I choose to write about. Sometimes, I have to include more tools. Therefore, there might sometimes be more than one affiliate offer.

But the pull quote block offer is the one in the Medium story footer, which is the primary affiliate product focus. In the event of more than one tool I must share, then the other links are merely added as text hyperlinks with (affiliate link) next to them.
