Writing is a Service to Humanity

The legacy you build and the footprints you leave.

The process becomes more enjoyable with time when you know the output will be legendary anyway.

You can’t control the result, but you believe in the process so much that you bleed till you die, with your words, with your actions and with your kind attitude to persuade the reader with your empathetic communication skills.

You are building a legacy on the way, and the footprint will stay even after you’re gone. If you leverage the power of the internet, then you can imagine the scale of the interconnected world. You have a voice. The internet is a big giant platform. Your content is just one click away. Your life stories are only one click away.

Doing selfless deeds is the most humble way to make a dent in the universe. Everyone wants to shine like a star. Some people choose a grounded way. A writer is one of them.

Starting from the family

Let’s start with the innermost circle. I was busy striving for work-life balance so madly that I lost track of my family.

Not that I didn’t care about them, I just couldn’t find time to talk to them. That is the most negative aspect of hustle culture: no personal space and even less family time.

It was killing me because I was in a different city. The moment I realised that our parents are desperate for children’s love, I started a habit to talk to my father every day since day 27 ( approximate ) of my blogging streak. Today is day 96. He is so much calm; I can feel the soft tone in his voice intensify with time. To truly feel the emotions, you have to be emotionally available.

He talks slowly now, tension free and in a way that he has nothing to worry. That is how strong love is. And distance is the 6th ( and the hardest ) language of love. Earlier we used to talk for 2 minutes or a maximum of 5 minutes. Nowadays we talk for 20 minutes, 30 minutes or even longer. All we do is laugh our asses off!

The outer world

The ability to appreciate what you already have and use it to build what you want is the raw method of success. It inspires other people also to follow this approach. That, right there, the bold statement, is the dent you have made, and this positivity spreads like fire, although slowly while building the momentum from community support.

It is inspiring because the process is slow, you trust it whole-heartedly, and your character build-up is happening along the way.

It doesn’t just inspire people; you might even ignite someone to work on the unique gift that they have been hiding because of fear.

Some people will thank you, and some may not, but your social circle will undoubtedly be affected by your selfless attitude.

If your sole reason is money, your quality will erode in the long-term.

I get it. Writing is a profession too. But the time when money starts to affect the quality of your work because all you care about is financial security, you know how the hollow realisation is when you don’t get the long-term satisfaction from your money-oriented work.

My realisation was at my last job. Financial security was there for sure, but I was working under someone’s command who was unprofessional in people management skills.

The tax on my mental health became intolerable. That’s why I left the toxic office-culture. If you have a thriving office environment, then I am happy for you.

Humility is a superpower.

Writing down your values and reflecting them in adversities is the fool-proof way to build resilience.

Adversity builds your character. And if you have recovered from a difficult situation all by yourself, that’s because you consoled yourself and focussed on what is the most important value you admire in yourself. The same morals you preach, show and radiate.

Humility isn’t vocal or attention-craving; it shows in your work and your attitude. You will radiate this quality throughout your life, and when you look back, you will have a legacy of stories speaking your life’s history — the history that also shows your contribution to humanity.

This blog belongs to a series of posts I am publishing in this 100-days streak. Today is day 96. Navigate to the end of the article 22, for the references from day 23 onwards. If you would like to read the ones before day 22, here is the first one that documents them in the end.
