WRITERS: We Have the Power to Give the Best Gift of All!
Did you know that writing is power and we can use it whenever we want?

It makes me proud and happy to know that deep down inside, I’m a good person at heart.
This is an important issue, because as a writer we have a lot of power under our control, so using it in a negative way can be a dangerous thing.
I once wrote about this, in a story that spoke about how we should be using our writing powers for good.
I don’t just stop at believing this is the right thing to do, but instead, I try to actually do it.
It seems like I’m always up in someone’s business, trying to give advice. I guess this is my way of making sure I’m missed when I’m dead and gone.
But whether I’m being “Miss Know it All”, “Captain-Save-a-Hoe, or simply being nosy as crap; I’m always intuitive to when people are in need, and I always feel the urge to want to help.
That was what happened when I left the Medium platform for the day, determined to take a break from writing.
Only that didn’t happen.
Here’s what happened instead…
I just created a handbook to help someone I know
In the course of a couple of hours, I just created a little handbook, specifically to help a former neighbor of mine.
Me and this person are often prickly friends, that sometimes rub each other the wrong way. But I don’t love her any less for it. So when I realized she could use some encouragement, I found a great way to help.
I made a little handbook and personalized it with all types of fun and positive sayings that are familiar to us both.
I plan to self publish the book via KDP, and have it printed out, possibly before Christmas.
Since my friend is out of town right now, my little gift will be waiting for her, just as soon as she returns several days later.
It’s not some earth shaking self help book or anything like that. It’s just a little handbook, to help navigate her through the first 31 days of the new year in 2023.
Here’s why I think she’ll need it…
New Years resolutions rarely last
Statistics show that when it comes to making New Year’s resolutions that we promise to keep all year, those promises never last.
In fact, this is what a story that I shared last year at this time had to say about it:
“Would it surprise you to learn that studies indicate only 8% of Americans actually keep their New Year’s resolutions all year long.
What’s worse, a whopping 80% have usually failed by the beginning of February!”
With those type of statistics, I knew my friend would be destined to fall short on her plans for making changes in 2023.
That was why I created the handbook, as a reminder about staying focused and accomplishing goals.
After a conversation with my friend, about all the things she planned to change for the better next year, I figured she needed all the motivation and inspiration she could get.
Since the hardest part of change, is taking those first steps to get started, I designed what I believe will be a great motivator — sort of a “starter journal”, combined as a self help guide.
By no means is this particular friend a reader, so the last thing I wanted to do, was give her a bunch of content to read.
Instead, I put together a few affirmations and words of wisdom, coupled with a few motivating inside jokes between her and I.
The only other things I provided in the book, besides a few stunning images from my pending “Uplifted” series, were lots of blank lines for her to make plenty of personal notes.
I’m so excited, and I can’t wait for her to see it.
A profitable book idea
Although I had no plans for this little book project, other than to try and help my friend; I’m beginning to see how this could turn out to be a profitable idea in the future.
Writers like Jeannette Murray, Jessica Bugg, Hammadkf, Shauntá Harris all have the right idea about finding ways to profit from creating low-content books.
They’re responsible for stories like these:
- MAKE MONEY SELLING LOW-CONTENT BOOKS ON AMAZON KDP
- 7 Great Niches For Amazon KDP
- How to Earn Easy $500 Publishing Low Content Books
- Low Content Books | You Need Them in Your Business!
And if you think low-content books like this are only being created for Amazon, think again, at least according to Medium writer QcBabe and the related story: Book Publishing with Lulu.
So if you find the idea to your liking, but not sure how to start designing, you’re more than welcome to imitate the way I designed my friend’s starter journal.
Do it for fun. Do it for yourself. Or if you’re like me, do it so you can share it with someone you know.
Final Thoughts
After 64 years of living on this earth, I’ve come to appreciate that one of the best gifts we can give someone, is the gift of hope and inspiration.
A small gesture, coupled with a few kind and sincere words can go a looooooong way!
Is there someone you know who could benefit from the gift of writing that you posses, and that all writers are in a position to share?
We as writers owe it to the world, and especially to the people in our lives, to use writing as a source for healing.
I admit, I’m not beneath using my writing skills and platform as a bully pulpit, all for the sake of justice, even if the writing stings.
But overall, I like positive writing and sticking to using my powers for good.
If you have a moment, feel free to look over the screen shots provided in the story I placed them in called:
A Personalized Starter Journal Just for the Month of January!
The story displays how I designed the interior of this resourceful book, as well as giving it an appealing cover.
So far, I only plan to print the one copy, since it’s not always necessary for you to order large quantities of self published books when you’re an author.
But you never know. At some time in the future, I might just decide to use it as a template to design some low-content books and start selling them online!
Thanks for reading…
