Would you like the year 2022 to be the first year that you set realistic goals for yourself, and you actually end up achieving them?

I sure do, and this time I’m implementing all the help and good advice I’ve learned, from reading and observing others.

I’m even sharing 5 important things I learned previously, to help get you into a positive mindset for the upcoming year.

This information focuses on creating and maintaining good habits that you can carry out all through the year.

Do you find yourself constantly storing up good advice?

There’s nothing like finding useful tips that actually work, but of course, it does no good to simply compile a lot of great advice.

We have to actually apply the things we learn, if we expect to ever have successful results.

Sometimes, I’m just like a squirrel storing up nuts, when it comes to collecting tips and helpful advice. I read and save any and everything that might be useful.

But then I make the fatal flaw of putting the information aside and forgetting all about it. And unfortunately, out of sight usually means out of mind.

Does this sound familiar? I suspect that I’m not alone.

In fact, on that same note, every January, people start off working hard to meet their New Year’s resolutions and upcoming goals that they set for the new year. But life manages to get in the way, and for one reason or another, those resolutions start to take a backseat to everything else.

Would it surprise you to learn that studies indicate only 8% of Americans actually keep their New Year’s resolutions all year long.

What’s worse, a whopping 80% have usually failed by the beginning of February!

One clinical Psychologist by the name of Joseph J. Luciani, Ph. D, says a lack of self-discipline is the main reason why most resolutions fail. To help counter this problem, he suggests that we start off small and begin building self-discipline.

Here’s what Luciani says we should do:

“Take a look at the habits that are holding you back in life. Find one that’s simple like, ‘When I finish this meal, I’m going to wash my dish.’ Make a contract with yourself that that dish must be washed.”

According to Luciani, when you make a little contract with yourself to “wash the dish,” this enables you to start building self trust, which is a crucial element when it comes to building self-discipline.

Agree with yourself to create and maintain good habits all year

Are you truly serious about not falling back into old patterns, and creating new habits that will benefit you all year?

If you are, then take the above advice. And while you’re at it, you can also use the tips I provide below. They can come in handy in helping you learn to trade bad habits for good ones.

Following these tips may just help you successfully accomplish your goals for 2022, whatever they may happen to be.

Here’s what you can do:

#1 — Help your good habits be successful to achieve by pairing them with enjoyable activities that you can look forward to doing.

#2 — Use mindfulness techniques, to identify the true source of your bad habit, in order to help eliminate it for good.

#3 — Make a point to start repeating the good habit you’re replacing the bad habit with. Do it until it seems to be on autopilot and becomes like second nature to you.

#4 — Use the method of focusing on healthy thoughts, not just about food, but about everything, since your mental and emotional health is just as important as your physical health.

Part of the healthy thoughts strategy involves mentally discussing with yourself, the value of following a certain course of action. This is a bit of a mind trick that you are attempting to pull off, just like the final method.

#5 — In this last step, you attempt to use a visualization technique. What this requires, is that you focus on visualizing the reward or benefit you’ll reap for remaining steadfast to your good habits.
