Write the Articles You Want to Read

For the past few weeks, my favourite type of content to consume has been short, to the point articles with little fluff or filler.

I don’t know why, but lately, I just don’t seem to have the patience — or attention span — to delve too deep into a piece nor do I want to.

As mentioned in ‘Just get to the damn point’, if you can give me exactly what I came for, in as least time possible, then there’s a good chance I’m gonna be coming back for more.

I want my information clean, clear, concise and I want it NOW!

So, with that being said, it makes sense to me that when I sit down in front of my keyboard to create, I follow the same objectives — lest sounding like a hypocrite, heaven forbid.

Of course, traditional wisdom states that you should always write with the audience in mind, but who gives a shit? Sometimes it’s more fun to throw a spanner in the works, forget about ‘the rules’, be a little bit selfish and just do whatever the hell you wanna do.

So, if you’ve found yourself drawn towards poetry as of late, write a poem.

Perhaps listicles have been your guilty pleasure, why not indulge in creating a ‘Ten Steps to…’ piece.

Or maybe you just can’t get enough of writers writing about writing, then maybe it’s time for you to jump on the bandwagon and share your own creative process with the world.

Forget what is trending, what will get the most views or make the most money and just write something that you wanna read.

You’ll likely find in doing so, the words will flow through your fingers like electricity and you’ll have a smile on your face from ear to ear as you light that keyboard up.

Thanks for reading.
