Hello, fellow creators, writers, and readers!
Thank you and a very warm welcome for stopping by and taking your time to read the guidelines to be a part of Humans Are Stories.
NOTE: I will not be nit picky as other publications in accepting your submissions. I understand the frustration behind it and will try to reduce it to the best of my capabilities. My goal is fast publishing. This article will cover all the things required before you begin/continue submitting your fantastic work. These guidelines will keep on updating as time progresses, don’t feel shy to come back and check for any updates.
2. Basics
The following links will surely make your writing/publishing easier:
- How to add/submit a draft to a publication
- How to properly use images in your posts
- How to use and add tags to your posts
- How to make money on Medium using Medium Partner Program
3. What do Humans Are Stories Entail
This changed starting 01/12/2021. This publication has niched down. The topics it focuses now on are:
✅ Poetry (Always use the tag “Poetry”) ✅ Shortform (Always use the tag “Short Story”)
4. The Essentials
- Any post is accepted as long as they are on the topics listed above.
- Articles are published once every day, either in the morning or the evening (Central European Time). It might take longer to publish during weekends or on holidays.
- You can submit as many posts in a day, but mostly one post/per contributor will be published in a day, the other posts will be published the following day, and so on.
- Please keep your private notes option on for me to be able to communicate with you.
- Proofread your work before submitting it. It will make my job a little easier. I thank you in advance.
- You already know it but let me iterate it again. To receive more views & readership, interact with your fellow writers on this publication by following, highlighting, commenting, clapping, and tagging one another.
- Please do not remove your stories without letting me know in advance. I reserve the right to cease all collaboration with you if you remove your stories without informing me.
- Only unpublished drafts are accepted. Already published stories in another publication or self-published then I won’t be able to accept it; this ensures stories gain the most exposure possible.
- Stories that are published by accident may not be deleted and resubmitted; that is a violation of Medium’s rules on duplicate content.
5. Formatting Guidelines
- Remember to use proper capitalization in your articles and use a subtitle also. The title should be written in title case (use this link to check) and subtitle in sentence case.

- Use section separator before your titles within the story and keep these titles in the title case.
- Use a tool like Grammarly to check for grammar errors. It is available for free and can be used as a browser extension.
- You can look for tips on how to use Medium’s editor’s features here.
- Usage of quotes
This is a pull quote.
Pull quotes are used to highlight any text of your story that is already present, to emphasize.
This is a blockquote.
Blockquotes are used to quote other people. Always mention the original source with a link.
Please adhere to the correct usage of quotes to streamline the usage of the quotes and make my life a bit easier while editing. 😇
You can read the following article to read more about the usage of quotes in detail:
6. Other Important Things
→ All images in your articles must be appropriately credited by including the photographer’s name + website. If it is your photo, then you can use “Image by Author” or something similar.
→ Only use images that are eligible for free use or licensed/purchased by you.
→ Do not plagiarize, please. If found, I would have no other choice but to report you to medium, remove you as a collaborator from the publication.
→ All affiliated links must be properly disclosed.
