Would You Vote for a President Who Channels Ascended Masters?

Is it time for 4th Dimensional psychic and enlightened political leaders?

I received an email last week that I summarize here:

Dear Professor Lew,

We encountered your beautiful argument about building a political and cultural leadership that starts from Jung’s collective unconscious and further develops a global consciousness alternative to neoliberalism.

We are working to build an argument about how politicians and leaders should take advantage of their sub-consciousness for long-term decisions that are unforeseeable by data or the thinking mind.

We wonder if you are familiar with any scholarship that can build this argument?

Here is an edited and much expanded version of my response…

This is an interesting question, and the the fact that your prestigious university and institute are examining this is a hopeful sign.

While there is limited academic research on this topic, here are some thoughts that come to mind for me, which you might find helpful…

(1) Mindful Leadership

Meditation is a way that individuals can tap into their subconscious to benefit their conscious lives. While not the same as psychically predicting the future of technology, for example, it can give one a more subtle sense or intuitive understanding about different policy options.

Over the past decade, meditation has become increasingly more acceptable in professional settings, particularly through the promotion of mindfulness meditation and mindful leadership in the workplace. (Oprah Winfrey has helped with this.) Mindfulness in this way has been promoted as being good for business, which aligns it with the traditional American work ethic.

However, this has also been controversial in the contradiction of using Buddhist mindfulness as a tool of neoliberal greed, focusing on getting higher productivity out of workers and laborers.

Transcendental Meditation (TM) is another practice that has been applied in political settings. It and Buddhist Mindfulness count quite a few politicians among their meditation practitioners. (First Lady, Mrs. Trump is a regular TM practitioner, but not her husband.)

Although this article is a bit old (2013) and focused on the US only, I think the trend it points to can probably be seen elsewhere in the world, as well.

There are many reasons why meditation would be good for our political leaders, including more rested, peaceful and clearer thinking, the ability to cooperate better with others, and better health for the individual meditator. There is also evidence that the more meditators there are within an organization (or country), the stronger these benefits are.

(2) Psychic Leadership

Your primary question relates to accessing the subconscious for long-term planning and policy making. I assume that means more conscious and intentional use of subtle energies and other psychic abilities.

Psychic abilities seem to be expanding rapidly around the world these days, with a veritable explosion of practitioners and teachers on YouTube. But I am not sure that the political system in the US (or any other country) is quite ready for a more spiritual 4th or 5th Dimension-based psychic leadership.

For example, if the two principal US presidential candidates were to say that they sought guidance by channeling higher dimensional beings (aliens/ETs, ascended masters, archangels, or their Higher Self), would that get either of them more votes?

Maybe it would for Trump due to his anti-establishment approach. But probably not for Biden who is seen as more of an establishment candidate.

This is because some actually see Trump as a 4th Dimensional leader — as someone who is guided by higher dimensional beings to tear down the negative institutional structures (“the establishment”) that are claimed to be in control of our planet. This is the view of many conspiracy theory supporters. (Others, however, see Trump as the exact opposite.)

Trump’s claim that the recent rise in COVID-19 cases in the US is a “hoax” aligns directly with many conspiracy theories, and is probably an effort to secure that electoral segment. Related to this, see:

President Trump is also familiar with the New Age spiritual concept that “we create our own reality” (see the article below). This is evident in his often highly optimistic assessments of challenging situations. While it may have worked in his 2016 bid for the US presidency, he has been less successful in getting the COVID-19 pandemic to bend to the realities that he has envisioned for it.

There are also conspiracy theories about extra-terrestrials who are advising or in control of Earth’s political leaders, either consciously or subconsciously. Unfortunately, these theories are mostly negative in tone and tend create more fear than support for a more enlightened leadership.

Psychic and extra-sensory abilities are controversial even outside of politics. A major issue that I see is that the current crop of 4th Dimensional messages from various channelers and spiritual teachers are diverse, and sometimes contradictory.

I believe this is because the messages are tainting by egos. This includes both the human channel’s ego and the ego of their higher dimensional sources of wisdom. Our ego is what makes each of us distinct and unique from every other being, and it exists at all levels of creation. Unfortunately, however, the distortions it introduces could take politics to a whole new level of confusion.

In fact, Donald Trump may actually be a 4D political leader. A recent analysis of his often unpredictable behavior describes a person who has let go of his past, does not consider the future, and acts only from the present moment. His attraction is that he is being purely his own true self in the present moment at all times. This is “Be Here Now” politics.

I do think that the Earth is moving into 4D, and that we should probably expect some rough times as our politics adjusts through this transition to 5D. The number one lesson may be to learn how to manage those egos.

(3) Enlightened Leadership

Hinduism and Buddhism, in South and Southeast Asia, have the concept of “Enlightened Leadership.” The ideal leader, especially political leaders, is fully enlightened, which means that they have transcended their ego and are acting in full alignment with the evolution of the Earth and the universe to ensure prosperity for their land and people.

China and Japan had a similar belief in their emperors, who were expected to ensure that a proper relationship existed between heaven and Earth, as seen through agricultural outputs and the level of peace among the populace. When those failed, it was time for a new emperor.

The Transcendental Meditation (TM) organization (which is based on Hinduism) started the “Natural Law Party” in 1992 to do exactly this kind of thing. They sought to get TM practitioners elected to office based on the belief that practicing TM enabled them to tap into the transcendent universal mind or consciousness for intuitive guidance. Many of their candidates were TM teachers.

I would guess that similar ideas on enlightened leadership are held in western and indigenous traditions, but other than maybe the Pope, I am not so familiar with those. There have been US Presidents who have openly prayed to God for guidance (such as Woodrow Wilson and Jimmy Carter), but I am not sure if that is the same as intentionally using one’s subconscious or collective conscious mind. But maybe it is.

Political Leadership on a “New Earth”

Political leadership, in my opinion, is a reflection of the citizenry that they govern. Whether or not they actually vote, the collective (sub)consciousness of the people creates the leadership they have. (This comes from the “you create your own reality” New Age belief.)

For an enlightened political leadership to emerge, some form of meditation probably needs to become a commonplace, normal practice among the general populace, as a first step. This is needed to raise the the overall consciousness (and mindfulness) of the citizenry. Psychic abilities would also increase as a side affect, I believe.

This seems to be happening now. New Age esoteric spiritualist beliefs and practices (especially meditation and yoga) and a desire for “awakening” are at an all-time high these days in the US and across the globe. The Internet and social media, in particular, have helped to bring this about. (Although they have also helped with the spread of conspiracy theories.)

Some say that this is evidence that the planet is ascending to the 4th or 5th Dimension, in which enlightened (sub)conscious intuitive and psychic abilities are “common” and “normal” in all aspects of our social and physical world. No one knows what the tipping point will be that shifts humankind’s overall global consciousness to that next level, but many are hoping that the world will reach it this year or next.

As much as many New Age spiritualists prefer to avoid politics (including myself!), ultimately politics is the realm in which we will see the final emergence of a New Planet Earth that reflects the goals of a 5th Dimensional “Heaven on Earth.”

It will really be something when our political leaders start admitting that they are channeling an archangel or their Higher Self for guidance! I have not yet personally heard of any politicians who admits to doing that. But I think the day will come.
