Summary

The author points out that entrepreneurial success is not solely about following someone else's path but is deeply rooted in personal beliefs, awareness, and feelings about oneself and one's existence. The article highlights the potential negative impact of this advice, including self-doubt, burnout, and a sense of failure when expected results are not achieved. Instead, the author recommends focusing on personal feelings, leveraging one's internal resources, and taking a break from the overwhelming influence of social media. The solution proposed is to cultivate a positive self-image and let love and joy guide decisions in business and personal life. The article concludes by encouraging readers to be themselves, remain open-minded yet skeptical, and to focus on expressing their own happiness and love.

Worst Advice: Find A Person Who Has What You Want & Mimic Them

How to avoid the chaos and anxiety caused by this advice

I tried the things that make entrepreneurs ‘successful’, also as stated in this headline, and I am not saying it doesn’t work for some people.

What most entrepreneurs starting out forget, is that unless you do a survey of all the entrepreneurs in the world,

the headline statement can never be accurate.

I had a client who chose Dan Peña as a mentor. It didn’t work out.

Now personally I don’t think it is either of their faults. I like Mr. Peña. He is fantastic at what he does and he follows his own way. It is not his recipe that made him successful at his craft, it is way more than that.

Why many fail is because of starting out on a false premise, thinking there’s some magic formula to success.

I am sure every entrepreneur reading this article will have his/her own story to tell, where they followed someone and it didn’t work out.

Yet we keep consuming the crap they now teach other entrepreneurs on social media. Like puppets on a string, they dance to the music of influencers.

Literally.

It is not about who you follow.

It is about what you believe and your level of awareness.

It is how you FEEL about yourself and your existence.

Imagine how you mess yourself up when you have chosen that successful person you want to mimic, you buy his/her program, you even go the extra mile, go to the seminar, meet the bloke, yet you find that your results don’t show.

Now you go into a downward spiral, doubting your own abilities.

You doubt your timing.

You remember that you had another coach that you were checking out at the same time and maybe you should have gone with them, yet you are afraid of more failure. Maybe you should just figure it out on your own for a while?

You feel like giving up, but you can’t.

So you just go on, feeling burnt-out at times and wondering about the purpose of it all…

I met many entrepreneurs who got burned by their experience with coaches and unfortunately it’s not good for the industry either.

What is the solution?

🌀You are not responsible for anything but your own feelings, so get with THAT program first and foremost.

🌀You have all the resources you need. If you are feeling good about yourself and your life the solutions will be clear to you. If you are feeling good about yourself and your life you will know what to do.

🌀Take a break from all the mumbo jumbo on social media. You deserve better. Read my recent piece “Entrepreneurs on Social Media Are Out Of Control”

🌀Don’t blame the coaches. Don’t blame yourself. Nothing has gone wrong. Trust the process.

How do you feel better?

Keep it simple. Start with your heart. Feel the love in there, then let it spill over into your decisions. Let it spill over into your business, your office, your relationships, your craft. You will see the quality of your choices transform your life.

Two of the most important things I have learned along my journey as an entrepreneur:

[a] not doubt myself and

[b] not beat myself up over anything.

Conclusion

It’s your life, my friend.

Stop caring about what the next person does and focus on feeling and expressing your joy, your happiness, your love.

As always remain open-minded and skeptical at the same time. I give you my experience, you feel what resonates.

Be yourself — what can be better than that, than to be yourself and live this life in full expression.

Happy 11:11, I am rooting for you!
