Summary

The web content introduces a humorous and challenging take on poetry with the creation of a triple-decker limerick, sparking a playful literary "feud" and inviting further creative contributions.

Abstract

The article titled "World’s First! — The Dreaded Triple Decker Limerick … With Cheese" boasts a unique poetic creation, a triple-decker limerick, which is humorously described as a culinary and literary challenge. The author, after being teased by Terry Trueman, an editor at "The Haven," for creating a double limerick, retaliates by crafting an even more complex triple limerick. This playful exchange has led to the possibility of an ongoing series of limericks, with a quadruple limerick hinted to be in the works. The article also encourages readers to engage with their own poetic responses and contributions, fostering a sense of community and interaction among writers and readers.

Opinions

  • The author playfully acknowledges the absurdity of creating a triple-decker limerick, suggesting that such overindulgence in poetry is a form of zany excess.
  • Terry Trueman's reaction implies that the double limerick was already a questionable achievement, with the triple limerick being an even more audacious move.
  • The article lightly mocks the seriousness of literary endeavors by comparing the author's poetic challenge with Terry Trueman to historical feuds like the Hatfield-McCoy conflict.
  • There is an underlying encouragement for readers to participate in the fun, suggesting that lowering standards for humor can lead to enjoyable and creative outcomes.
  • The author humorously reflects on the health implications of a meat-heavy diet versus a vegetarian lifestyle, hinting at a personal consideration for dietary changes.
  • The article subtly promotes "Doctor Funny" as a platform for humorous literary works, indicating a preference or endorsement of this publication for lighthearted content.

Betcha can’t read just one!

There once was a burger, con queso*

Bad to the bone, or “el hueso”**

I ate it right up

I had it for sup

Then sank like a stone, worth a peso

It’s as bad as a dinner can be

That pile of meat, count ’em … three

I should switch to a salad

Then go write a ballad

Or try healing myself with green tea

Some meat, a big part of our diet

But vegans aghast, “why not try it?”

No cows will you kill

And you’ll live longer still

If you switch to a vegetable riot

You can blame Terry Trueman — and me, I guess — for this excess.

JK JK Terry, but I had to rise to the challenge.

I ran over Terry’s toes with my bicycle by failing to tag him in my first-ever double limerick and prompt response. This zany brand of over indulgence can be found here 👇 if that sort of thing interests you.

When I crowed in the “Tagged Again” story that it contained the world’s first “double limerick,” Terry — an editor of the excellent pub, The Haven — snorted, “[that’s] B/C Everyone else KNOWS better!!!!” But … published it anyway.

I of course shot back, “Excellent point. Now I’m tempted to do a triple, then a quadruple and so forth :-)”

So, here’s the triple as promised. A quadruple is brewing.

Writing this I wonder, will the Trueman:Burg dust-up become as famous as the Hatfield:McCoy Feud? Time will tell.

Meanwhile, feast on the delectable stack of stuff above and chime in with your own responses, poetry, prose, and other dross. 🤣 Terry Trueman Zachary Burg Carlos Garbiras Conquering Cognitions kurt gasbarra Patrick M.
